Some actual proper reporting from inside Ukraine
from Vice of all people. I was as shocked as you are. They have a russian speaking reporter on the ground who's doing a good job of interviewing ringleaders and generally being 'where the action is'.
This links to the 23rd report in the series, it's from about 4 days ago (I haven't watched the ones before this), but the playlist is here:

VICE has been doing excellent reporting for years.
Yeah, it's a bit hipsterish but it is appealing to younger generations. They got Dennis Rodman into North Korea, made a great piece called Agafia's Taifa Life about a reclouse Russian family and strongly recommend watching the VICE Guide to Travel series for everything from them trying to buy dirty bombs to covering the Polish/Russian vodka wars. Their close to the action international reporting is like what 60 Minutes used to be before the old guard died off and they turned it into shit.

RAF LUFFENHAM Bomb craters on runway
tooling around on google maps and found this , not far from corby it is the old air force base and if you look along the runway you will see bomb craters accros the middle of the run ways.
Originaly i thought it could be piles of gravel/aggregates but zooming in you can see trees and bushes growing in a couple of the holes.
Alos further down to the lower left there is abuilding with what looks like weapons ordinance on display out side the front of the buulding, then further along the bottom edge towarrds the right there is a harrier jet and then a bit further a phantom with apart of a the wing removed
www.916-starfighter.de/Large/Pole/2257po.htm also not to far from me was this old starfighter at the old spanhoe airfiled that was used during the d-dparatroop drops

Maybe after the first run it was easier but the original was scarce.

Cyclist killed racing on roads (BeeBeeSee link)
every sympathy for this chap and the guy driving, but my overwhelming thought was: why are cyclists allowed to 'race' on the public roads without them being closed off first?
Mopeds, motorbikes and cars wouldn't be allowed to race on a public road, and given that cyclists in an organised race like this are potentially going 40+ mph this just seems mighty dangerous to me and not just for themselves either. Have I gone mad or what?

Nope. I am inclined to agree
Very tragic, but as a cyclist and driver I would never "race" (not that I can anyway) on an open public road. I think cyclists (especially those in lycra) can get very over-confident and almost forget how vulnerable they are to other vehicles. That said, where I live drivers are utter cunts to cyclists. I got spat on the other day by a prick in a bright orange Landrover. That was lovely.

We get a lot of 'Cycle events' round my way
The organisers stand in the road to stop drivers whenever they feel like it. I don't stop for them. If you want to stop traffic, get a policeman or pay for the road to be closed you lycra clad tosspot.

ok...
I wasn't really coming from a 'lycra clad tosspot' perspective, more of a 'if cycles are considered carriages legally' (they are), 'then why are they allowed to race on the roads with suitable respect to the safety of themselves and others'

Stupid lycra-wearing cunts. Poor driver. He should've veered right & ploughed through the lot of 'em. CUNTS.
Speaking as someone who cycles every day, who doesn't expect special rules & realises that I'm ALWAYS gonna come off worse in a scrape with a car/motorbike/lorry.

I race
And there are lead and trail cars and motorbikes making sure cars are kept away from the race. We are not allowed to cross the white line, usually, but it sometimes is unavoidable. This sounds like a tragic accident and no one is to blame.
Ps A very similar thing happened when I had to swerve right to avoid another bike and I just missed an oncoming, marshalled, car. Road racing is dangerous and accidents such as this are impossible to completely avoid

"...no one is to blame."
Balls.
If he'd been racing motorbikes noone would be saying that. He got himself into a situation where he had to choose to either brake and lose position or cross the white line and risk his life. He rode badly then he chose badly.

Just came back over dartmoor
And we nearly took out 4 cyclists.. not on purpose. Its full of clubs and road race teams having a jolly cycle out on the moors in their Lycra on their sports bikes. Just because they watched someone win some Olympics suddenly they all can race without knowing the high way code or doing cycle proficiency tests. One group were taking up both sides of the road people were over taking each other, over taking tractors with on coming traffic... fucking idiots... I cycle and I'm not the perfect cyclist but these lot I saw today were fucking idiots.

Twats the lot of them
Highway Code says you're not allowed to race on the public highway.
We get loads of these old blokes cycling along the back road on a Sunday. I know one who collided with a car and broke his shoulder in twelve places. Twat. As if that's going to heal in a man over 35.

Silly twat should have slowed down and fallen in behind the pack then
Yes you won't win your race but it's what every other road user in that position is expected to do.
