This is a link post have a gander at dear old corby
the town i call home has changed a hell of a lot since it was built, like most places have, how ever these pages contain the hopes and dreams of a new town, a better town, a town that has not yet found its identity.
looking over some of the pictures i can see my very first house when i moved to corby in '71.
the pages from the council hand book are interesting in the way they offer a new hope to people coming to the town and the simple honesty displayed in the adverts is refreshing, some of the traders are still going.
if you look at the way the town has grown and changed you can see the effect the steel works has hadd on the development of the town and ultimately its death aswell.
lots of people have heard of corby and may even recall it on the news for the closures back in 81 when the steel plant finaly closed, most people have heard that it is a rough and hard place to live and not to be messed with, sadly like all to many places these are stereo tyrpes that are easily given but almost impossible to erase, i am proud to call corby my home and for the exceptional job that i have .
have a look around my home town and make your self welcome
