I read a detail and objective account of this a while back - as I recall the guy was screwed over by corrupt local officials who CPO'd his business premises for personal gain and he was then fobbed off by the very authorities who were supposed to stand up for his rights. When the law failed him he took things into his own hands; the only shame of it is that he killed himself afterwards - the only person who was harmed in the episode.

I can't help but admire what he did - most people would have just rolled over and accepted it.
