: GET YOUR MATES SACKED
By getting their PC to shout rude stuff.

Some of the stuff we've made at B3ta is quite
loud and we've had complaints that we should
warn people before they click on stuff.

We are warning you now. Don't click on this.

This is a small trick to play on your friends.
The idea is you email the link, they click on
it and their PC shouts "The boss is a cunt!"
  (A lot.)

We've given it a nice attractive URL to help
  fool your friends.

  Go on. Get them sacked.

: THE RATHERGOOD CORNER
Pavarotti loves Elephants, Joel loves Drink.

Joel Veitch runs a site called Rathergood.
He's our mate and we love his deranged work.

  Joel writes -

"This week I have been drinking solidly in
honour of England's World Cup campaign.

"A booze experiment after the England-Nigeria
game resulted in broken glass all over my room
and total confusion over how many days I had
  been drinking for.

"I had a brief moment of lucidity, during
which I realised how much Pavarotti loves
  elephants."

: WHEN COME BACK BRING PIE
Silly phrase takes over the world.

Last week we alerted you to B3ta regular
Weebl's latest work. It was an animation of an
egg like thing with the catchphrase 'When come
  back bring pie.'

The thing about catchphrases is that they
  sometimes catch.

  Weebl says,

"People have made my life hell by sending me
pictures with the phrase on it, enormous
amounts of fan mail and generally weirding me
  out."

"In response to the reaction I've continued
the series with some new ones. My favourite
  features a bull."
http://www.weebl.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/b3ta/bull.ht...

(BTW: We asked Weebl whether he'd be happy
if it ended up being used for as advertising
campaign for Pukka Pies. Weebl says, "Hell yes,
  I love them pies.")

: WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK #1
A History Lesson, Toast Art, Consultants

  >> A History of Photo Montage <<
  If you've been reading B3ta for a while you'll
know about our love of photoshopping and
  cut'n'paste culture. Technology has liberated
us to be very silly. B3ta contributor Pabulum
is a little more thoughtful than us and has
been researching the history of mucking about
with photos - taking it back to mid 1900s.
  Interesting stuff.
http://www.cutandpaste.info/

  >> Leaning Toast <<
Have you ever sat at breakfast and made your
toast into funny shapes? B3ta reader Malevole
has and has made a site dedicated to the
obscure art of toast leaning. The site features
debate on whether you should butter before or
  after the leanage. Controversial.
http://www.malevole.com/mv/misc/toast/

  >> Consultants are useless twerps <<
Have you ever had to work with a consultant?
Have you ever wondered why they earn so much
money? B3ta boarder Santexo has, and has poured
his frustration into this animation. It's funny
  because it's true.

: B3TA BIRTHDAY BASH

Friday, 5th of July 2002. Put it in your
diaries. We're making cake. More announcements
  closer to the date.

: WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK #2
Big Brother Song, Duct Tape Phone, Google Hack

  >> Big Brother Thicko Bootleg MP3<<
B3ta boarder Thorpe is a musician and likes
cutting up tunes for others enjoyment. This
week he's taken the Jade from Big Brother's
  amusing and confused questions about
geography and set it to music. It works well.
http://makeashorterlink.com/

  >> Duct Tape Phone <<
Is your mobile phone boring? Then customise
it. B3ta reader Nathanial Hendler has made his
own phone using sticky tape and scribble. It
  looks fantastic. Sort of.
http://labs.retards.org/samsung/

  >> Google Image Thingie <<
The Google image search engine is great. Without
it B3ta boarders would have no pictures to play
with in Photoshop. So it comes as no surprise
that boarder Rawx has used this image database
as the fuel for his latest project. It takes a
sentence of your choice and finds individual
pictures for each word. Be bored no more.

-------------------------------------------------

 : CALIFORNIAN B3TA PARTY.

  Boarder Captain Kimbo writes -

  "I'm organising a Yank-fest on the 29th of this
month at Disneyland! If you want to come, then
  please let me know."
http://kimbo-be-coo.com/yank-fest.html

-------------------------------------------------

: HOW TO SPEND YOUR MONEY THIS WEEK
Buffy Season 2 DVD for less than half the price

Did you know that you can buy DVDs from the
U.S Amazon rather than the UK?

  Let's compare prices:

  U.S : £30
  U.K : £76

We've been buying our DVDs from Amazon.com for
a while and no problems. The savings are HUGE.

BTW: You need a multi-region player to play
  U.S DVDs.

-------------------------------------------------

: SITES IN BRIEF
Stuff we like that wasn't made by our mates.

  >> Transsexual Book Art <<
  Boarder Spunkybackpack writes -
"Comic book covers modified for a transgender
theme. The odd part is that there's so much
  of it."
http://www.tgfa.org/modified/covers/covers.htm

  >> Foetus Dolls <<
Catherine Jacobs is a "pro-life artist" who
sculpts and sells foetus dolls. We understand
she's making a point, but that doesn't stop
  them looking icky.
http://www.godslittleones.com/

  >> George Cross Dog Coat <<
Do you want to look like a scary racist? Then
buy this George Cross coat for your pit bull.

: BOOTLEG MP3 OF THE WEEK
The Strokes vs. Christina Aguilera (err...)

Each week we talk to the_dr at Boom Selection
about his current favourite bootleg track.

  the_dr writes -

"No - you've not heard this before. This is a
semi-parody of the greatest bootleg of last
year - 'A Stroke Of Genius' from The Freelance
  Hellraiser.

"Go Home Productions take the same 'Genie in
a Bottle' vocal and places it over a different
  Strokes song.

"It works and it's very chilled.
http://boom.phink.net/approved/genies.mp3

  >> Bonus MP3 - Free - Gratis <<

"This 'Salt n Pepa vs. Lady Marmalade vs. Santana'
is cool, in a fun mash-up sort of way. Old school.
  I like it."
http://boom.phink.net/approved/push_it_como_va.mp3

(BTW: We like it too and we're dancing around
B3ta HQ to this tune whilst making this
  newsletter.)

: B3TA IMAGE CHALLENGE
  Results from Jubilee Challenge

Each week we run a competition to test your
creative skills. We set a challenge and you
open Photoshop and mess with our heads.

Last week we wanted you to enter the Turner
  Prize.
http://b3ta.com/challenge/turnerprize/

We asked B3ta boarder Pabulum to judge the
entries - here are his 3 faves.

  Pabulum writes -

#1 "Lamp and Light switch - would probably have
won the real thing this year. (spacefish)
http://b3ta.com/board/1/3/4/0/8/1/

#2 "Hey Duchamp - Marcel would have loved it.
     (sasquatch)
http://b3ta.com/board/1/3/2/8/6/6/

#3 "Daddio - just because..." (staticgirl)
http://b3ta.com/board/1/3/9/0/0/5/

BTW: Pabalum has just put together a site
about his own photoshop entries, and a lovely
  thing it is too.
http://www.pabulumpix.com/

ERRATUM: Last week we got the link wrong
  to Monkeon's winning entry. Sorry.

  >> This Weeks Challenge <<

This week, B3ta contributor Chthonic gave us
the suggestion, "Forgotten old celebs. Where
  are they are now?"
