The HillOne midnight I climbed up a hill behind my university, accompanied by a boy I thought I loved. The fog was thick and billowed below us, illuminated by amber lights...the world soundless ... and it seemed as if we were the only two people on earth, wondering what secrets the soil we stood on had already heard, and if one day future lovers would journey to meet each other there... shuddering under the cold starless sky...
I later found out the boy was gay, of course, and many years later shattered my ankle on that same hill whilst sledding, but that particular night was especially gorgeous.
