This is a question Books

We love books. Tell us about your favourite books and authors, and why they are so good. And while you're at it - having dined out for years on the time I threw Dan Brown out of a train window - tell us who to avoid.

We read Of Mice and Men at school
A great book, somewhat tempered by the fact that come chapter 3 or thereabouts, someone had scrawled 'I don't want to spoil all the fun but Lennie gets shot on page 113'.

This is my favourite story so far.
I don't expect it will get beaten this week either.

Yes, but you never had Great Expectations.

Ha ha!
It is a good book, too, and Gary Sinise's film version is very watchable.

My wife did that, and The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, with her class, last year - bet that was uplifting, for them.

A good book
But utterly ruined for me by what felt like 13 years of dissecting every morsel of it in english lessons. Same with the films of Dr No and die another day. No wonder kids don't read now.

This is the only book I've ever burned.
I didn't enjoy it.
