Yes, but at the time I'd only seen him in Doctor Who so I was surprised when his actual accent wasn't being suppressed. It freaked me out for a while then confusion took over as I could understand him perfectly well but the BBC didn't seem to think a doctor with a regional accent would be acceptable.
