This is a question What Makes You Cry?

That bit in the Railway Children when Jenny Agutter says "Daddy! My Daddy!". Gets me every time. I am 48 years old.

when cars pull out of the way to let an ambulance through, makes me proud of humans, both for having managed to organise for there to be ambulances, and for cooperating to help them get where they are going, and thinking of this makes me cry, and then I think about how even though we can do that, so often there is very little reason to be proud of humans, due to doing things that are the opposite of ambulances, and that makes me cry a bit more

I like the sentiment but a bit Daily Mail in that you say there is very little reason to be proud of humans.
There is more kindness that horror, simply one is not as news worthy as the other.

But not everyone
My sister stayed with Italian friends in Napoli and they spent a week or two being driven around by Italians. There was a traffic queue and a fire engine had its lights on, horns blaring, etc trying to get through. Not one of the dozen or so cars in the queue moved aside.

My sister was incredulous and asked why no one moved over (including her host); after all it could be their house that is burning down in the distance. The reply was, "oh you English. you're just like the Germans. Everything has to be done properly." Then host continued the conversation with her hand permanently depressed on the horn - like every other stationary car in the queue.

...and then I crashed my car because I was crying
and the ambulance couldn't get through, so I died.
