Owing to a driving error on my part, I drove my car off a bend and off the top of a wall, then on its side down the road for 70 yards. Now I'm preparing to watch it go to the scrapper. I was lucky not to be hurt or hurt my passenger and I feel pretty terrible about it.

Time will give me a perspective, but right now it feels like the stupidest thing I've ever done.

as long as you're ok, and you've learnt from your error, it'll be ok

i can feel your insurance premium rising from here :(

I'm surprised we haven't heard more of these.
I'm sorry to hear of your accident, but glad that you were both unharmed.

Don't be too hard on yourself, okay? There's a reason they're called accidents, rather than stupid blunders.

:(
Many of us would have done similar things for sure - I know I have. You feel bad about it, and only time will make that go away. But you gain some valuable lessons that will stick with you for life. Pleased to hear no one got hurt.

Done very similar myself about 15 years ago but thankfully landed softly in a bog. One of my friends in the car didn't speak to me for nearly a year (I don't blame her). Trust me, you'll learn from it, it certainly made me drive more sensibly. Sounds harsh, but I think many drivers would benefit from a near fatal accident that through sheer luck everyone walks away from unharmed.
