Eraserhead.
I've watched some wierd horror/sci-fi shit in my long and illustrious life but this film is the only one that really and truly gives me the willies.

I have a copy on DVD but still can't bring myself to watch it very often.

Ranks among my 'overhyped and ultimately disappointing' films. Sorry BGB.

Eraserhead scared the bejesus out of me
the first few times I saw it. The lady in the radiator gave me nightmares.

Then I put it aside for a few years, returned to it, and realised it's actually a black comedy. Now I don't find it scary at all, but it's still very enjoyable, if you have the patience to withstand the long silences.
