This is a question Things I've gone off

Spimf says: I've always enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd, but lately I've noticed if my iPod plays any of their tracks, I skip them. I'm starting to realise I've gone off them. What have you gone off lately?

I'm actually going right off b3tans attacking other b3tans
on a personal level.
When did it become ok to attack spouses, kids & families?
I'll put my hand up 'cause I've had a swing or two. Mostly after someone's had a dig at my missus or kid.
End of the day, you're a b3tan, you're here you know what to expect but I don't really get how it's ok that your family members get the same treatment.

Meh. Whatever, those of you who can read this - if you don't agree with me then feel free to put me on ignore.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 8:40, 70 replies)
you do realise that unless your ugly offspring and morbidly obese wife are actually reading this
they are not being "attacked", as you so emotively put it, rather the statement is intended for you and is merely being descriptive
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:01, closed)
There it is.

(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:11, closed)
For all I know you're a nice bloke with a lovely family, socky, and you shouldn't let anything that people say on the internet overly bother you
including me.
But lay off the "won't somebody think of the children" line. It's a cop out. You're not standing in front of them at the pub hearing abuse, you're on a mostly anonymous internet forum
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:18, closed)
he can't defend them from bullies down at the pub
he's too busy queefing for attention on the internet

(and they're both far too popular with the blokes at the pub to get any abuse ... if you know what i mean)
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:49, closed)
What's your view on Rory
telling a registered disabled and blind in one eye poster that she's a lazy sponger who is lying and should get a job?

Just anonymous banter too?
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:58, closed)
Well put.

(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:02, closed)
yup

(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:04, closed)
I think you have to recognise B3ta for what it is
it's not some up and coming site encouraging new members in a supportive atmosphere, that's rob's other more important project now.
Instead it's a once great site in slow but inevitable decline, and myself and others enjoy a bit of well-directed abuse for the lively theatre it is.
Now, as to your example, if I was actually some real-life spastic or mouth-breather, I'd like the fact that I can get abused in a spirit of equality
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:34, closed)
It is an equal opportunities hater.

(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:35, closed)
It never used to be
/talk used to be where all the shitflinging went on.

It used to be that QOTW was something of a refuge, but the halfwits who crapped up /talk noticed there was more going on here and brought their shitflinging with them. There's pretty much no difference now.

It's not lively theatre when 90% of the posts are someone slagging someone else off. Not for me, anyway.

You're right, of course, and I remember when the main board moved so fast only the best stuff got noticed
but now it's different, and no amount of whining is going to change it. Each week I write an anecdote for QOTW if I've got one, because like a mad old uncle, I like to tell stories. I don't let the occasional shit that comes my way bother me or cause me to write accusatory rants instead of me stories. If you did the same, the site would be more like you want it to be
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:57, closed)
I do.
I still do post proper answers, but they get lost in the static. What is the point of that?

Anyway, I can't disagree with you. Most of what I post now is just done to irritate the puppies. The fact there are still posters here who disagree with them gets right under their skin.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 11:03, closed)
a) your stories are probably ignored because they're dull
b) the 'noise' in which they are lost is made up almost entirely of self-obsessed pity threads like this one that you are currently defending

you muppet

My ex was a nurse in a terminal respite ward
She used to say things like "Get up you lazy bugger, you're not dead yet".

They loved her for it. They appreciated her honest attitude, rather than the usual patronising, faux-sympathy they got from everyone else.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:43, closed)
That's not the same at all.
Did she ever go in and say 'Ha ha, you're going to be dead before Christmas, you fucking dick'?

Maybe she told them to stop lying around in bed all day sponging off taxpayers, and go get a job?

No. Probably not.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 11:05, closed)
Even one of the founders of b3ta describes /talk users collectively as wankers
It amazes me how it is still there
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 11:40, closed)
yup

(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:34, closed)
I do reckon that people give out way too much information on here. QOTW is particularly bad because people who do it wrong ie not realising they're supposed to make up outrageous lies
end up telling the whole internet about themselves and their families. This may be out of a genuine desire to entertain others but often it's because they want to brag about how big their saltwater pool is or have lots of sympathy from everyone because their life is so terrible and this really is the wrong forum for that as they soon discover.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:44, closed)
Umm.
you're on a mostly anonymous internet forum
No BD broke that seal as well.
You name it the shitflingers have tried it with me. So yeah I have every fucking reason to stand up for my family.
I understand what you are saying. My post was more based on what someone below had to say about Battered.
Now Battered is a rude cunt and deserves everything he gets. BUT, despite the fact that I know about his ex and daughter - knowledge I didn't choose to know but was posted by other b3tans. I don't feel that "attacking" him on that front is either right or acceptable.
As I said - I'm happy to have a go at Battered - hey he did a great job of selling apeloverage's book and he's mostly a snide prick. But as far as his familial situation is concerned - that's none of my business really.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:59, closed)
you were banned and had a chance to either fuck off or come back less shit
it's hardly anybody else's fault that you're a masochistic dick
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:01, closed)
As someone asked a few days ago, what is the difference between the mature posters,
and the kids here.

Context being I have been suggesting recently that there are two sides in this ongoing shitfest - the puppies, and what I call the grownups.

You're describing the most significant difference.

The grownups know things about the puppies, same as the puppies know stuff about us. We choose not to attack them with that knowledge. It's cheap, and it's nasty, and normal people don't do it. The puppies have no such reservations. In fact a lot of the time they make stuff up anyway, which the others don't realise is made up, and it becomes fact.

We, the adults, don;t have to worry about that, as we don;t do it either way.

So, answer, and resounding agreement with sockpuppets view - the difference between us and you fucking little cretins is we have self control and manners. Try it some time, you might even like it.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:11, closed)
puppies is the nickname coined by giganto-chin to describe ringo and friends because 90% of their posts were whimpering responses to regulars
dunno why you're trying to adopt it ... you're already a member of the puppy league
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:16, closed)
No, I coined that.
I started posting picture of puppies. Try to keep up.

You add absolutely nothing to anything around here.

nope ... it was big chin or shambles ... months before you climbed onto your pony of great sanctimony

in fact according to search it was before your account even registered
derp
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:22, closed)
I couldnt disagree more
I think that the vast majority of human, certainly male, interaction is in quite horrible insults. the difference between, as you put it grown up and puppies, is that the grown ups take it in the way it is intended rather than a perceived level of insult.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:16, closed)
Up to the age
of about 13, yes.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:20, closed)
Really?
That's it the best retort you could devise, to suggest that it is an age range thing. I thought I had already covered that in the previous post.
In my experience most adult males and a lot of females save their most cutting insults for people they like most.

yes I appreciate that this is a forum and the interactions are different, however in the initial phase they are certainly intend as described previously. It is only when the righteous indignation sets in that the insults become truly that. Yes you could argue that it should stop there, however I put it to you that in the majority of cases it is the person that feels aggrieved that starts the worst abuse.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:26, closed)
it's also worth noting that the op of this thread has been registered a week
and already started half a dozen threads purely aimed at getting abuse and attention

fuck knows why this halfwit is trying to defend that

and it's half eleven in the morning
and i'm not shambo

how can you be wrong three times in three words, you dumb fuck?
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:40, closed)
Well, having waded through
your Rumpole of the Baily impression there, maybe you can see the point, but haven't recognised it.

Yes, you're right, people are indignant. You seem to think the sin is to show that. Well, in normal society that's exactly what happens. If you want to argue that a message board is the opposite, you are proving my point.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:33, closed)
Ok Maybe I shouldnt reply but here goes
First up I have responded to your post with an opinion you have used a mocking insult, the very thing you purport to be against, hence you are affirming my original statement.

And no I am not proving your point or even trying to point score as you seem determined to do. I am saying that in a normal society people don't get indignant they use insults as a way of showing affection.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 10:49, closed)
You're saying when someone calls another posters
young daughter a 'cum dumpster', that's affectionate?

You must have had a difficult childhood.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 11:11, closed)
You see yet again you
undermine your own argument by insulting me, can you not see the irony in doing that. It also completely proves my point, it doesn't matter the extreme range of the insult it is still there.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 11:47, closed)
You're confusing yourself about
what we're discussing, and apparently getting butthurt about it.

If you're saying my argument is null because I'm insulting you, you've completely lost track.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 12:04, closed)
Read it all back carefully
My position in this is that insults are a part of life that are used to produce a bonding with others. You have insulted me several times admittedly mildly, I am pointing the irony in this I assume you quite like me really. I am in no way getting "butthurt" and yes your argument is null as you initial statement was:

"We choose not to attack them with that knowledge. It's cheap, and it's nasty, and normal people don't do it. The puppies have no such reservations"

You have so far accused me of having a difficult childhood and called me Rumpole...

Now to go back to me original statement that these insults are affectionate I can only assume that you find my argument compelling.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 12:12, closed)
I dunno.
It's one thing approaching a mate in a pub, slapping him on the shoulder and saying 'alright, fuckface?' with a friendly smile.

This is not the same.

Sorry, it's the first time I've tried doing a link like that.
Try it again please.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 12:32, closed)
OK yes that is harsh
However the 2 posters in this instance have form... My argument is that insults are often used as a form of communication. The poster with whom I am discussing suggested that people grow out of it, I disagree.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 12:34, closed)
Try passing over the Rumpole and difficult childhood thing
to see what we're actually discussing.

You've now moved onto how you feel about people being rude to you. We're not discussing that, we're discussing people being rude about people connected to you.
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 12:28, closed)
No I am not discussing how I feel about people being rude to me
the whole basis of my argument is/ was that insults are a common form of affection.
Yours was that insults were not used by adults.

You have used insults ergo null argument.

That's it, I have no interest on to whom or how tangentially connected the person insulted is
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 12:32, closed)
I can't see any reason to mention your wife & kids

your wife is fair game
she chose to marry a dreary fat loser for a slice of his mother's savings

not sure about the kid ... might be fairer if she was actually yours and not the get of a knee trembler with some pikey down at the funfair
(, Thu 22 Aug 2013, 9:43, closed)
It has always been fair game to attack yours.
Your VD-ridden hag of a wife and cum-dumpster child are already doomed forever simply by association with you, you terminally tedious self-obsessed cockend. It is quite literally impossible to make their lives any worse. Even torturing them with a chainsaw would do them the favour of providing a disstraction for a brielf moment, a blasses relief from the crushing reality of life with you, you hideous arsehole.

Just sayin

A single click on your username brings us to
a deeply personal and heartfelt post about your own family situation.

Are you OK for us to start poking fun at you for that? I can tell you, much as I dislike your online persona, I wouldn't dream of doing that and would soundly condemn anyone else for doing it.

tl;dr - grow up, you idiot.

Easy to hide behind the fact that it's online and not in person, as if it somehow negates the direct intention or the emotional harm the comment specifically intended.

There have been quite a few 'digital pile on's' (sounds like smuttery...) subjected to a few regular B3ta individuals.

Interesting to see when there is talk of less members
let alone even less financial members for this site that the moderators allow some of the replies in this thread (alone) yet red page me for fighting against the shitflingers.

A couple of years ago I might've suggested b3ta and /qotw as a place to go a fellow netizen as a place to read a funny tale and have a good laugh.
There's no way I'd send the lady who gave me a parking ticket the other day here now. I wouldn't wish some of the shit that spouts from here on my mother in law.

Yet the mods appear to be happy to side with the shit-stirrers and at most do absolutely fuck all. Well done the mods. Where are they with their "step hammers"?
