This is a question Lies that went on too long

When you lie you often have to keep lying. Share your pain. When I was 15 I pretended to be 16 to help get a summer job. Then had to spend a summer with this nice shopkeeper asking me everyday if I was excited about getting my GCSE results. I felt like an utter shit. Thanks to MerseyMal for the suggestion.

Not really a lie, but something of a strange discovery.
I found out this weekend that I have spent the last 2 years thinking I was a year older than I actually am.

How the fuck do you lose track of something like that?

I've done the same
I thought I was 32 when I was 31 - I felt like I'd wasted a year!

I felt slightly
the opposite.

I justwon a year.

Wierd though. And it was my 7 year old nephew who pointed it out. He was talking about my one year older brother being 46. I said 'He can't be, 'cos I'm 46', and he told me to stop being stupid . . .

A guy I know used to work for the D.W.P.
Department of Work and Pensions for all you non-Brits. A woman phoned them up asking why she had not as received any paperwork about claiming her up and coming retirement pension. She could not understand it as when her own sister was approaching 60, she had received all the relevant guff weeks in advance. My friend was rather puzzled and said "Well I agree, if indeed, you are coming up to 60 years of age, you should have received it by now. I will look into it for you" Then he asked her to confirm her name, address and date of birth etc. etc.. Well it turns out that according to her D.O.B. she was in fact only 58 years old at the time and not 59. When he politely pointed this fact out to her and that she would need to wait another year she became very indignant "Don't you dare tell ME how old I am!" she snapped back at him and she proceeded to tell him that she had already arranged her 60th birthday party and that she had several friends and relatives coming from all points of the compass to visit her for her up and coming 60th birthday bash. Then he said it all went very quiet, the penny must have suddenly dropped and without another word ,she put the phone down on him.
