Legend had it that his coat was stuffed with cash. More recently I notice the guy who spends his day pushing a trolley round Camden Sainsburys shouting, "Best of luck!". Constantly. I went to college with a grat many scousers over the years, and from many parts of Merseyside, and I am happy to report that tales of Purple Acky have been told as far afield as wavertree, Crosby, Speke and over the way in Wallasey, so he must indeed be real.
Apparently "he's so black, he's purple", and also very tall...
