This is a question Messing with people's heads

Theophilous Thunderwulf says: What have you done to fuck with people? Was it a long, carefully planned piece of psychological warfare, or do you favour quick, off-the-cuff comments that confuse the terminally gullible? Have you been dicked with, and only realised many years later? Are you being dicked right now? Tell us everything.

Ad Libbing
Whenever a shop assistant greets me with "How are you?", I usually reply "Not too bad for a Wednesday" (or whatever day it is...).

Doesn't register with most people, showing how little they actually pay attention (or care). In America, however, it always causes confusion, as it means you have strayed from "The Script", and they don't know how to respond.

But recently, after a nast bout of 'flu, when asked how I was, I started to actually describe it in detail .... and after about 30 seconds they were usually looking for the nearest sharp implement. THEN THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE ASKED!!

In Sainsbury's recently
every checkout person will ask me how I am, regardless of whether we've met previously or not. It's (or was for a while anyway) obviously corporate policy to do so, so I'm left torn between wanting to say "What the fuck do you care?" or just being polite because their job's on the line. That really messes with my head.
The other one is where the person behind the counter insists on addressing me as "sir". Any attempt to establish their relationship with me as subservient (for that is what it is) rather than as an equal human being also goes deeply against my grain. I fucking hate it.

Yeah,,,
I hate it when a someone who works in a shop is polite to me when I come in. I prefer an air of nonchalance and for them to ignore me.

It makes life so much easier.
