Electrical fault
When I was just a wee young lad an unfortunate electrical fault on an electric blanket caused my bed to combust with me in it. Naturally I did what any sensible person would do and got out of the slowly burning slumber pit, went for a wee and then got back in.

I got burnt toes, mother got a bit annoyed, my dad doused the flames with water (clever!), and we all lived happily ever after.

Had you simply not noticed the flames, or were you just not concerned by them?

I didn't notice
I simply assumed that I'd developed a slight cough and sore throat during the night. I completely missed the acrid smoke and flames at the end of the bed.

That's what I call a warm bed
I do worry about your Dad throwing water onto an electrical fire. I hope he let you get out of the bed first before doing that bit.
