Have I mentioned I am going on holiday tomorrow?
Well, I am. Diving in the Red Sea. Which is well exciting and manly.

What's the best place you have ever visited?

Alt: Have you ever returned to somewhere you have holidayed and stayed in the same place again?

Apologies to those of you that have not yet been on vacation without your parents. Or are too fat to leave the house.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 10:30, 187 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Yes
I returned to Los Gigantes in Tenerife as the first holiday there was exceptional

Best place was Cancun. 5 star hotel, optics in the room and a fridge full of beer. Argentinian restuarant serving quite simply the best steak EVAR and all inclusive for everything.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 10:31, Reply)
Also Holland on numerous occasions
Fucking excellent place
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 10:33, Reply)
Cool.
I have never been to Mexico, I'd love to go.

I am going to Amsterdam on business the week after I get back off holiday. It's a tough life.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 10:35, Reply)
Mexico is very much on my 'must see' list.

Or motorboating if you prefer
I have an excellent action photo of our boat in mid air, lifting off a wake somewhere at home

Not so much Amsterdam
I like the south of Holland. Life seems a lot more laid back there

Try and get away from the parks/resort for a day, which is quite difficult because they are so damn good. Great place.

I've got the Orlando Flexiticket Plus thing
So we get entry to all the Universal stuff, plus Aquatica, Busch Gardens, Seaworld, etc. Skipping the Disney stuff though - we're only there for 2 weeks and want to see something of Florida as well.

The last time I went abroad was 2008
so I'm not really the best person to be answering this question.

The last time I went somewhere where the people spoke funny and had alien customs was Bristol.

Actually, I went to Riga in '10. That was a stag weekend though, so i don't think it really counts.

we had a house in spain when my mum was still around
so obv went back there a few times. other than that, no. i like to go to different places, so barbados is the only place i've been more than once. and america, but different places.

the grenadines is the best place i've ever been. like you imagine paradise, only with turtles and tortoises and iguanas and a seriously hot french captain on board your pirate ship. AND to get there you have to go on one of those tiny planes that only holds about 10 people.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 10:34, Reply)
Do you go back to the same hotel in Barbados?
I liked Barbados. Except for the teeth sucking, fag poncing, BO stenching locals. The cunts.

St Lucia is nice. I got a helicopter from the airport to the hotel because that's how I roll.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 10:39, Reply)
no, i've stayed in different hotels every time
going again this christmas, bring that shit on.

never been to st lucia. i like the funny little island that is half french, half dutch (st martin, i think it is), hardly any tourists. apart from us, of course. pasty english cunts.

Which might explain why it's quite quiet.

Yeah, we did two weeks round and round the med, starting from Palma.
It was well good. The only place we didn't get off the boat was Tunis, because it was too bastard hot. About 50 degrees in the sun, and I don't imagine it was much cooler in the shade.

Alt: then no, I haven't.

Particularly the gas lamp quarter and Torres Pine Park.

i liked the old wooden rollercoaster that is right on the seafront
it's really high, so you get fab views. and it all lights up at night.

There's only 2 places I've found in the US
that you could possibly pay me enough money to convince me to live there. San Diego and Portsmouth, NH.

You can do that on Gran Turismo

Poor old Battered's phone went flat after two days.

The day they went ranching
he had to ride a pony ololol "charger", you see.

Dunno why but I've never fancied going to the USA
Travelling East has always been my thing. I'd like to be convinced otherwise.

I've been to Amsterdam twice
and Cornwall quite a lot, but otherwise I don't go on holiday enough to go to the same place repeatedly. Istanbul is probably the best place I've been. Or Prague.

Oh, Prague was lovely.
Did you see that fabulous astronomical clock? There's a nice one of them in Strasbourg too.
And, being as Mucha is about my favourite artist, I had to drag mr b3th to the Mucha museum. He was 'well' 'chuffed'.

Isn't Prague just full of stag dos now?
My housemate went a couple of months ago and said the place was beautiful but full of drunk groups of lads from Rotherham/Doncaster/Birmingham etc etc.

We went about ten years ago
and stayed away from the party scene. Though we did like the fact that one of the pubs in the middle of town is called The Dog's Bollocks.
And we went right at the beginning of January, because that's when mr b3th's birthday is.

I think you made all the right choices.
I want to go but I'd have to read up on the place extensively to avoid the loud, trashy areas. I want nice cafes, architecture and quiet cobbled streets with tucked away restaurants. I cannot believe at 21 that just came out of my mouth.

and you want to go to California?
fucking hell. My flat is older than the whole state.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 11:28, Reply)
That's pretty much what we did.
But then, we're already old.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 11:29, Reply)
The 19 year old me would be disgusted with my current self.
My current self is pretty happy with how my tastes have changed.

We just need to wean you off the sunglasses and £150 shirts
and we've got a perfectly well-rounded individual. Score.

Well, except the supporting Fulham thing, of course.
(, Thu 17 May 2012, 11:34, Reply)
I have one more pair of sunglasses to buy and then I'm done, I mean that.
With clothes as well, I'm done.
The Fulham supporting thing I had no choice over and is something beyond my control I'm afraid. As much as I'd like to, I think I'd be disowned by my family if I stopped.

It's a good life
Sea air, ice cream, as much sand as I can eat. I can't complain.

Good news. If you look at the QOTW poll you'll see Rory is back.
