Guitarists...
I'm after some headphones that I can plug into my amp; I'm beginning to feel a bit guilty about forcing the neighbours to listen to me making a guitar-shaped din.
Any recommendations?

I think you'll find
may not be fucking hate that songHugely smug anecdote alert: I remember being at a party in my uni days. the cellar of this house had a full band setup in it, drums, bass, guitars etc.
some drunk idiots were trying to torture guitars with oasis songs and occasionally pleading for someone to take a guitar and play some oasis, but without giving up the guitars.
I eventually got hold of one, and they were all like "can you play some oasis?"
I busted out the turnaround in the middle of Calling Elvis by Dire Straits, and said "I can, but I'm not fucking going to"
a few of us then played a 15 minute AC/DC medley, not even stopping when someone knocked out the light bulb leaving us in pitch darkness for a few minutes.

I've had this problem for some time. I don't know a lot of songs that people ask for, so they assume I'm shit.
Doesn't bother me so much anymore, but it used to

My knowledge of music artists isn't great eaither.
I know what I like, and I listen to that, and sometimes something new comes along, but I'm talking about in general.
I don't really listen to music radio so I'm not really up to date on things.

You can buy a little mini-amp thing that clips on to your belt then you plug your headphones into that.
They used to be supplied with Encore electric guitars many years ago.

I have a large pair of Sennheiser open back ones
that I use with my large guitar amp. the tone isn't great in comparison to the speaker itself, but it is sufficient. You need to be careful not to deafen yourself though

I have these
www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en.nsf/root/private_headphones_wired-headphones_500157closed means you can't hear stuff from the outside, so DJs would want closed ones. sound projects more from open backed as well. I prefer the sound of them for enjoying music

Be retro and get some DT 100s
www.studiospares.com/Headphones-Studio/Beyer-DT100-Headphones-400Ohm/invt/410001&bklist=Major plus point being, that when the cable/ear pads/jack/etc etc break, you can get all the spare bits, and won't have to fork out for a new pair.
