I can't put my finger on why this bothers me so much. I think it's because it should be such a simple opereration, but ends up being complete puke.

Funnily enough
I'm exactly the opposite. I can fanny about with inanimate objects until the cows come home without getting frustrated (except for PCs, but that's different) but with people I have very little patience.

Probably because inanimate objects can't help being awkward.
