Groovypoodle writes, "My mate once told his girlfriend that he didn't think it was working only for her to laugh and tell him he was hilarious. Saying she was 'too weird' and 'slightly violent' and that he didn't like her was equally hilarious. Ripping off her wing mirror, throwing it through the windscreen
and storming off in a huff merely generated an apology from her a week later..."
Just how hard have you had to work to get someone to take the hint and stay dumped?

In no particular order of hideousness, over the protracted, drawn out, on/off/on/off last three years of a collapsing six year relationship, and after the first ‘this isn’t working, we’re both so unhappy, I…
Slept with one of his mates while boyfriend was in the room…
Slept with (another) one of his (engaged) mates
Did the dancing tongues thing with most of his mates – male and female
Had relationships with (at different times) two women (before anyone asks, no, he was never allowed to watch – they were two separate things)
Was daft enough to answer questions about all of the above, during one of *those* conversations…while he was tripping
Moved away and utterly forgot I had a boyfriend…including when he came to visit
Got together with a drug dealer for a while
Took copious amounts of speed/smoked myself into stoned oblivion every time we were together to minimise talking (or at least talking sense) opportunities
He finally took the hint, or perhaps, I finally made it clear, when I permanently left the country.
I want to add the explanation that this was when I was a very, very unhappy, scared, lonely and mixed up person. I am happy and shiny and nice and lovely now. Honest.

I'm glad you're not like this still, it's not fun messing yourself up like that.
