This is a question Prejudice

"Are you prejudiced?" asks StapMyVitals. Have you been a victim of prejudice? Are you a columnist for a popular daily newspaper? Don't bang on about how you never judge people on first impressions - no-one will believe you.

Men with long hair.
This is the last acceptable prejudice. People do not hesitate to believe that a man with long hair must be unemployed or unemployable.

A man with long hair cannot be an executive or any higher management position unless he owns the company.

I've known women to accept this situation and believe it is morally acceptable, while they complain about the glass ceiling.

If a man grows his hair longer than usual, he loses 1 IQ point for every cm.

I miss my long hair
Queen just isn't the same without it.

It definitely depends
on the person. My son is completing his bachelorate in biochemistry this month and will be moving on to post-graduate studies in the fall with the help of a five figure scholarship which is renewable for up to four years. He has had his work published in scientific journals and it was actually included as part of his class's study program. His hair hasn't been cut in over six years and he has a full beard and mustache as well. Your theory on the IQ points may be true. But still leaves him a damn sight smarter than almost everybody.

Length? Well past his shoulders, of course. (Pop! There goes the length cherry.)

I think he means
not an actual loss; but a perceived loss, assumed by other people

I actually understand
and so does my son. I think a large part of his look started as a self defense mechanism in high school when it could be thought "No body who looks like him can be THAT smart". Now, it's just his look (combined with vintage Western shirts).

In
an interview I was asked that due to my receding hairline(seriously it`s not that bad) it might not be appropriate to have long hair and would I consider having it cut?
*a sigh heard around the world*

Or they assume you are a bender.
Never quite worked that one out.

it goes the other way
if a woman walked into a job interview with very very short hair (let's say stubble) then people would just as off put.

Hairy buggers
My fiance and many of his mates have longer hair than mine, very often accompanied with a beard. He spent seven years working as a college lecturer (music), but still gets exactly this kind of reaction over his ponytail. He's been mistaken for a girl many times - once when he was younger and slightly less broad, some guy tried chatting him up before his mate pointed out "that's a bloke, mate", and sometimes we're approached by clipboard people in the street with the words "excuse me, ladies". He looks like a 6ft+ version of Tom Savini, and has a 42" chest. He says he'd make a shocking woman.

Some friends of ours nearly caused a car accident this way - they were just walking down the street, hand in hand, when from a car behind them comes the shout "LESBIANS!". Then the car drew level with them and noticed the bloke's beard, and nearly went into some bollards because the guy was so surprised.

I hate men with short hair. They just look silly and "tough".
Long hair on men, when properly combed, looks dashing, intelligent and handsome. It makes me sad when men feel obligated to cut off their locks so people will "respect" them.

I hate the grown up divs you see on holiday in terrible places (spain) who have shaved heads, or a number one, tats (especially on legs),wife beater vests or football tops.Awful.
