Home alone one night, with the females of the house at an Ann Summers party and my dad down the road at a neighbours house, something strange happened.
I was only about 12 at the time and it was a dark, dark October night. At that time, when I was home alone, I took to carrying round either a baseball bat or a sturdy stick with which to thwack the buggery out of the bogeyman or whoever else cared to turn up. So I'm sat in the lounge, with my stick, watching something on our big fuck off telly. It's about 10 pm and I'm running out of programs to watch, so I decide to read a book. I get up, walk across the room, turn off the TV *click and screen goes black* and walk across the room to the door to fetch a book.
I got to the door and froze. Behind me I'd heard *click, shhuh* and span round in time to see the TV come back on. Paralized with fear and without my stick I hurried across the room, picking up the stick along the way and turned the TV back off *click and black*
I began to walk back to the door. Didn't even make it there this time. *click, shhuh*
I could tell from the light being cast on the wall infront of me that the TV had turned back on.
Running running running. Out the door, up the hall, out the front door, down the path, down the road, turn to see the motion sensor light in the driveway is on, running running faster running all the way down the road to the neighbours house my dad is in. There I stayed till about midnight, when my dad and I went back into the house to find the TV...off...

I'd be in the office, which has doors that open on to the living room with the TV. And it would turn on, and fuzz grey. I'd go and turn it off, it would turn back on. Scared the shite out of me.
Turns out the dog was stretching in her sleep, and somehow managing to hit the on button everytime she did it.

our TV has turned on all by itself. Both times, though, have coincided with power surges (I know this cos the surge protector on the PC tripped). The TV now has its own surge protection. So far, it hasn't happened again.
Scared me shitless the first time though.

and woke up to it playing music by itself. I blamed the wireless keyboard that time. But the times I woke up and it had turned itself on made me reconsider.
