hurray for blues harp
but shame on you because i now fancy having a practice on mine but can't because I have a terrible cough and sucking and blowing are the possibly the last thing i can do right now without choking

Mhm
Coughing and then almost swallowing one of these things could be a slightly awkward turn of events.

Huzzah though, a fellow blues harper! Do you use it for actual blues music, or folky stuff?
(, Fri 16 May 2008, 19:53, archived)
i'm a newcomer to it
but my old man played harp at a gig last saturday with canvey pub rhythm & blues legends Dr Feelgood as he used to be in the original band they formed from.

but yeah i like real blues

Real blues is cooler than a glacier
but jazz is nothing but a blues quartet falling down a long flight of stairs.

Listen to the Larry Adler version of that
it's mighty impressive, but not really something you could learn in an evening, I think

if it's pitched in G then you'll be playing cross-harp in D
coincidentally, I've just dusted off my harmonica to do a tune tonight

try finding an Elmore James tune in D, he liked D

(, Fri 16 May 2008, 20:11, archived)
Heh, when I first saw the message I thought he was playing the harmonica through an amp.
Then I had to lie down for a little while after that notion.
(, Fri 16 May 2008, 20:02, archived)
why?
people play harps through amps all the time...

theres specially made harp mics to use when doing so (by cupping it in your hand).
