Just terminated a 2.5 year contract with a client from hell
Ever been fired?
(, Thu 14 Jul 2016, 9:33, archived)
Sort of
I led a document retention team for a defence contractor. They were all lazy, piss taking cunts to a man. If I were a better manager I could've whipped them into shape, but I wasn't, so I got fired.
(, Thu 14 Jul 2016, 9:36, archived)
you're not fat, it's document retention?

It was my first job after I left retail, so I fucking loved it.

I'll never go back to working in a supermarket
fucking hated that job.
(, Thu 14 Jul 2016, 9:50, archived)
my last one was Clintons
There are so many things that I hated about that job, and so many ways that it affected me personally, that I can't even go into it. Suffice it to say, I had to leave, and have never looked back.

I worked at Subway for a couple of weeks in uni to make a bit of cash, then called the area manager a cunt, which prompted a full disciplinary hearing and hoo haa for what we all knew was going to be a dismissal.

The smirk on the face of the person taking the transcript of the meeting confirmed the accuracy of my statement, and I went on to work in my local, where calling the landlord a "bald punk cunt" was a casual greeting

Only if the mother's health was at risk. There was a high profile case of a woman with detached retinas who was 99% likely to go blind if she delivered. She couldn't get the abortion, then went blind, and the government just shrugged and moved on.

I love seeing old films at the cinema. I saw a midnight showing of The Exorcist a few years back. At first I was worried because LOADS of people turned up, having spent the whole evening in the pub. Fortunately most of them had fallen asleep by the time the film had started.

Yeah, I've been going to the cinema quite a bit of late.
Another couple of old ones I'm tempted to go to are Strangers on a Plane and The Glass Cell.

What I'd really like is for them to show some of the classic noirs though. It'd be great to see the likes of The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon and Double Indemnity on the big screen.

We once tried to watch no country for old men when we got in from the pub.
It was one of those old torrents that came in two parts and I stuck part two on by mistake. Nobody noticed it appeared to be mid film but nobody had a clue what was going on. We gave up about half an hour in.

Good album that.
It was supposed to be a demo for new songs, it was recorded on a Tascam portastudio and downmixed (at the wrong speed) into a ghettoblaster he'd previously dropped into a swamp and dried out on his porch, the tape had rattled around bare in his jacket pocket for months.

He couldn't get the E Street Band to replicate the brooding misery that was present in his recordings so asked the engineer if they couldn't just release the tape itself.

the record shop is not that good, but he clearly has no idea how to price the odd gem that may be in there if you can be bothered looking

(, Tue 12 Jul 2016, 11:26, archived)
The bloke in my local record shop seems to be a bit obsessed with soundtracks.
He's always listening to one when you go in and often digs one out by one of the artists you're trying to buy, and tells you to buy it if you see it, in a way that implies the one in his hand is not for sale.
