Jim and Irving
Jim from "GM", short for "Grey Mouser" from the Fritz Leiber books. Awesome cat: not only can she bring home animals twice her normal, housecat size, she's mothered so many kittens the RSPCA will no doubt neuter us. Ah, the glories of country living....

We also have a cat named "Irving" (IV), because it's the fourth black-and-white stray that's owned us. He's the only cat who walked up to the front door on New Year's Day, walked in the house like he owned it, and has yet to stop acting like a spaz*. Brilliant.

-----
* Defined as suddenly getting up, tearing through the house at 9 000 kph, racing out the cat flap, and ending up head first in the pond. Repeatedly. For no reason.

Python Pickup
I was 21, she was 22, I think, and quite hot. We got slagged, I mentioned having Monty Python's Flying Circus (yes) on the computer, she came home with me. We got through maybe two episodes and. . . fade to black. Then she took my Python and I never saw her again.

*sigh* Those were the days.

Left forearm
A bright summer day, headed out to some friends of mine in my just-bought-truck, I made a sharp right turn onto a dirt road with a ledge on one side. Cue me going off the road, up the ledge like some kid on a skateboard, making a complete revolution, and ending right side up with the underside of my forearm in tatters from the window. I hoofed it up the hot summer road for a mile to the freinds' house, who promptly went apeshit and drove me to the hospital.

There are a lot of little "shrapnel" scars up and down my arm, and a nice one on the elbow, but the main one is on the underside of my left forearm. For some reason, that one healed into a dragon-like shape, so I now tell people I got it fighting the Pendragon*.

-100% of fact.

» Singing the wrong words

Ah, to be a Dad
My dad will quite purposefully come up with the weirdest ones:

"I don't care what gay men know,
I don't care what gay men say,
Cletus is just all right for me."

and

"Shower with people you love to love."

are two of his more memorable butcherings.

As a grad student
I am currently subsisting off of a diet of nothing but Marathon bars and coffee. It's mostly destitution, but it has more to do with being dead out of time.
Edit: Have been staving off scurvy with vitamin-C tablets. Handy things, those.
