When I was a little girl...
...My mum and I went shopping. To Asda. And she bought me this lovely box of crayons. 100 of those lovely ones in all sorts of colours.

Lovely, I thought.

In the kitchen of our house, there was a hole in the floor.

Needless to say, being the little cow that I was, I put anything and everything I could get my hands on down that hole. Sweeties. Chocolate buttons. More sweeties. And yes, those crayons.

Mum comes in to find that I have dropped all the crayons save for one blue one down the hole, never to be seen again.

» My Arch-nemesis

My brother...
...He says he doesn't have an arch-nemesis because he's too awesome.

And he might be right.

But probably not.

Buckets
I'm in an ambulance being taken to a hospital, driving on the hard shoulder, when suddenly we stop.

There was a bucket in the middle of the road and the crew had to move it out of the way.

» What nonsense did you believe in as a kid?

I used to believe...
When I was 8-ish, I shared a bedroom with my sister, but I was allowed to stay in my parents' bedroom to listen to music and read for a bit before going to my own bedroom and going to sleep.

Parents' bedroom was much larger than ours, and in it was the boiler cupboard, whatever it was, full of all sorts of things (and it was where parents hide presents, I quickly found out...)

Anyway, as I would lie in this huge bed, I used to believe that behind the boiler, there was this portal that would open up only at night, and all sorts of beings would come out. They'd never leave the cupboard, but they would watch me. Normally it was just one person, like that Pink power ranger or a My Little Pony or a Lego toy or something, but sometimes I remember there being whole teams of cartoon show characters appearing in there.

I was also one to believe that my toys come to life when I'm asleep, like in Toy Story. To stop my favourite toys from coming to life, I used to tell them off and put them in my bed so they couldn't move without waking me up.

» Awesome teachers

Why did he only teach us on Mondays and Tuesdays?
In primary school after our first teacher in Year 5 left and a substitute for her fell ill and we never saw her again, we had a new teacher pretty much every day.

But for a while, on Mondays and Tuesdays, we had this particular teacher...

He had a system. It was called the Marble Jar. If the class is well behaved, a marble goes into the jar. Collect 10 marbles, and we all get to play a game.

Parents swooned over him. Kids loved him. Every class got to have a few days with him. You could hear kids laughing for miles around.

Of course, we didn't really learn much that year. Spent too much time outside playing games.
