YesIt's a book of short stories exploring the effect and behaviour of Asimov's three laws of robotics. The first of which is "A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm".
But the temptation to add a killer robot got the better of them, pretty much missing the point of the book.

I thought the point of the film was that the robot did what he did for the good of humanity rather than an individual human, often referred to as the "zeroth" law of robotics in Asimov's universe. So it was in keeping with the theme of Asimov's robot works, if not the individual "I, Robot" book.
