Im happy with that. Pitty i didn't do it though haha, i'll learn to resize for next time. I found this site other day its right up my street. How do you update your profile? and is there a way of seeing all the pics/videos that a user has uploaded?

er
click your username, then click Update your profile
you can click on anyone else's username to see their profile and the stuff they've posted on each board

Also,
if you want to type in capitals you must not use Caps Lock.
The shift key must be pressed with a little finger throughout the typing, LIKE THIS.
If you use Caps Lock gronkpan will detect it and you'll be b&.

With so much time to kill - why not Google 'optimisation', then head over to the FAQ section of b3ta?
And tell me what you find there, because I've never been.

what do you create your animations in? most programs will have some form of gif optimisation
less frames, less colours and smaller res are a good place to start though
edit - i should probably add i'm not trying to stifle your creativity, i very much like your stuff :)

I make it in after effects and turn it into a gif in photoshop. Never made a gif before until I 1st posted the other day! I've got a bit to learn. What a noob :) Cheers

if you work with Photoshop you have a few options
diffusion plus lossy
128 colours
etc
mess around then check the filesize

butt seriously
it's too large, dimension wise with too many frames
you can shrink it with Gif Movie Gear, drop the colour palette down and use some code to expand it, that'll sort you out.
If you want Gif Movie Gear, lemme know

<img width="300" src="______________________________" height="300" />
This code can make anything, any size, dimension-wise, not in kilobytes.
Just replace ________________ with image url and adjust numbers as you like.

file>save web devices
then the lower the colours and dither the smaller the file size

taking out every second frame then just slowing the anim down is a good tip

( ,

Also, fewer colours, smaller proportions (you can make it around 30% bigger with html without too much quality loss)
Dither can be good too, but only in certain situations.

what mu said
i dunno what program you use, but photoshop has great optimising options, i find lowering the dither often gives it a nice cartoon effect aswell as saving kb.

oh yeah, and if you're re-uplaoding to b3tards, name the file something else or it won't replace it
( ,

it does replace it,
but you have to hard-reload (ctrl-shift-R in firefox) to see the replaced image on /board; otherwise it loads the version stored in the cache.

good ideas, but my internet is now fucked
( ,

You can't hide them until you've already loaded them in the first place.
Then the damage is done. Ignore is the one you want, but then you'll never know when he learns to optimise. Oh my you are in a muddle.

There's a fairly good guide to optimising GIFs in Adobe Imageready
here: flylib.com/books/en/2.817.1.150/1/
To be honest, it's normally just a case of playing with the settings until you get a sufficiently file size.
You'll use some of the quality, but with a decent GIF like your one above it'll still make people laugh :)

but when he says 'replace'
he means don't delete the post - just edit it and stick in the link to your new optimised image...
( ,

If you want to optimise it, reopen whatever you made it in and have a play with the save settings.
Fewer frames, smaller size, fewer colours etc... Then hit edit on the original post up there ^ and swap it in. Or don't. Whatever. Just don't delete the thread. People don't like that.

( ,

10kb or so extra and no-one'll mind. apart from the uber board nazis...
( ,

400kb
It doesn't seem that much but keep the big version of your anims, and put a link to them underneath so people can load the full quality version if they like.

How ever good this is, it is huge and thefore making the rest of b3ta not load properly and fucking my knackered old pc up the arse..
It's even on imageshack so won't even cache so I have to download it each time I refresh....
It's not like you don't know that it is too big because you said so yourself, I know you have read the FAQ,or you were just very lucky when you made this 400px wide, and just decided to to go fuck us on slow conections with old PC's I suppose..

How would i see all posts from one person? on their profile? and how can i update my profile?
( ,
Fri 16 Mar 2012, 20:25,

Yes you can see all the posts made by one person by going to their profile and clicking on their maessages..
But this will only allow you to look back for one week, you can look back further, but that function is call search and it is broken at the moment.
You can update your profile by clicking on the (Update profile button) right at the top of the board, next to your user name..

Ok :-) It's a good animation though and also welcome.
Just try to keep to roughly the recomended limits, there not written in stone, but good to try and aim for, just your 3.9Mg here is well over the top...
There is also free hosting here if you wish to use it :-)

Yeah that'l be my last one at that sort of size! ;) if i make another and it's big ill post a small version with a link. Is it easier if i use the hosting here rather than imageshack?
( ,

The hosting here is as easy as..
Pick a password for your account, and the just press browse, select, upload, and it gives you all the code ready to copy and past ;-)
I don't know if it's just me, but image shack images never cache, so everytime I hit refresh it has to download from scratch every time, and with 4mg on a slow conection, frezzing my aging PC and not letting anything else on the page load properly, it makes b3ta a little unusable..
But alls sorted now ;-)

I have already blocked it, I just wanted to point out the mistake, because if everyone starts to think it is ok to post massive images, I will have to start blocking everything here, so b3ta will finish up having no images on it!

This is really fucking good...
...but really fucking big.
It's over 200 frames - try to get it down to 50ish
Reduce the colours to 32
Reduce the size to 300 wide rather than 400
Keep doing shit like this (but smaller) and you'll fit in well
