# We are not at war with Iraq
We have never been at war with Iraq.
We are at war with Terror.

# not terrorism mind you
because that would be a little to precise. No. We are at war with a feeling. FFS you may as well say we are going to have a war on Lethergy.

# No, that would be silly
because we have never been at war with Lethargy, we have always been at war with Terror...

I agree entirely. Going to war with 'terror' is bloody stupid. I keep on meaning to start a database driven site where people can subscribe to a simple statement:

I believe that the best way to combat global terrorism is to ensure that all the people of the world have clean water to drink, food to eat, clothes to wear, and shelter from the weather.

My principle is this; it's a lot more difficult to be pissed off when the person who you are angry at has made sure that you and your family can eat that night. Wars don't start over full stomachs. Bring in at least some measure of equality to the world and things would get a lot more peaceful.

# Perhaps he said
"At war with Terry".

I understand Bush and Mr Venables fell out after a misunderstand over a cream doughnut.

# agreed
there will never be a fair and equal world, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for one.

# Yep,
there are some things that are very achieveable for the whole world, right now. Clean water for every person on this planet would cost $4bn. That's a lot of money, but try comparing it to the US defence budget and then consider what a difference that alone would make to global relations...

It seems like common sense to me, or maybe I'm missing something really obvious that only politicians can see.

# and...
like what you're saying but you're forgetting one thing, where's the profit for the capitalists in given everyone water?
Only a commie would do something like that....
