Being an American, I had to google to find out what a scouser is.

My advice to you: stay away from Liverpool for a very long time.

# That's my
advice to everyone...
(, Tue 20 Mar 2007, 17:01, archived)
# hmm
I'll be honest, the Hillsborogh thing or the taking the piss out of scousers thing don't bother me. It's the lack of humour, yo!
(, Tue 20 Mar 2007, 15:28, archived)
# It ISN'T that funny... I agree... certaintly NOT front page material...
and I will laugh at almost any subject. Almost nothing is taboo... IF IT IS NECESSARY to the joke.... Hillsborough reference in last frame is neither funny, or necessary and I for one thinks it is totally out of order. I neither like Liverpool F.C. or have any particulat affection for Scousers.... but when people on this site jump up and down in fits 'cos somebody posted a previously posted image (I refuse to use the stupid phrase that has become fashionable by the kids on here) or some corporation use some fuck-wit's idea for part of an ad campaign then the powers that be get on their high-horses and bleat like fuck about the injustice. GET FUCKING REAL FOLKS....

And as to his claim to be a Liverpool F.C. fan?.... pfttt... yeah.... tell that to the Marines!

Says the bloke who got a front page with the 'serial killer advent calendar'. I'm sure the families of those murdered would find that equally unfunny.

# Absolutely bang out of fucking order!
As funny as it looked, the Hillsborough joke was not needed full stop.

Why dont you just remove the Hillsborough bit off the last picture for obvious reasons? People lost their lives due to police incompetence. RIP 96.

(, Thu 22 Mar 2007, 14:18, archived)
# hahahaha
you scousers'll do anything to keep it in the media so saying "rest in peace" is quite the contradiction.

We've all moved on, isnt it time you did??

(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 15:45, archived)
# strange

(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 15:58, archived)
# The Hillsborough reference
wasn't needed to make the gag, in fact I don't think it really fits, but I don't think it's something to get stressed about. There's been a tonne of jokes and tasteless pics on here over the years about 9/11 and I don't think anyone kicked up as much stink.
(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 18:47, archived)
# Hillsborough isn't funny
I'm from Merseyside, so most people of this earth would describe me as a scouser, so generally I don't think Hillsborough is a laughing matter.

That said, this is b3ta, and yes, I've seen (and laughed at) too many 9/11 jokes for me to remember. So I'll let it pass, and b3ta wouldn't be the same if they hadn't FP'd it.

I'm still not buying the Sun though (mind you, that may be because I can read).
(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 20:05, archived)
# Oh No, Not that
For God's sake take it out or summat - they're feeling sorry for themselves. You know the buggers'll start singing "You'll never wank alone" or "Fanny cross the Mersey" any bloody minute.
(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 19:46, archived)
# fuck em.
if we can make jokes about 9/11 or the london bombings, hiroshima, peter sutcliffe and the dead queen mother. then i reckon hillsborough is fair game as well.
(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 20:14, archived)
# that queen mother, eh?
what a cunt
(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 21:54, archived)
# Exactly.
If I had 10p for the number of times I've seen the gates of Auschwitz posted here I'd probably have enough cash for dinner and a pint at a Wetherspoons.
(, Fri 23 Mar 2007, 23:14, archived)
# Spot on.
You can't laugh at only half the stuff people come out with on this website. Either it's all OK or nothing is. I've lost family to cancer, doesn't mean I'm not going to laugh at jokes about the matter. Put simply, personal experience doesn't come into question. Every joke has it's butt, and people will laugh when it's not related to them, but make em the target for ridicule and they soon change their fucking tune...

To the people that wrote in and complained to Rob: if you genuinely haven't laughed at the stuff on the site that makes fun of sensitive subject, then fair play. But bear in mind almost everyone here excercises and respects the freedom of speech, and if you don't like it, get the fuck off our website.

(, Sat 24 Mar 2007, 0:36, archived)
# Totally agree with you,
what happened at Hillsborough was a horrible tragedy, but so was a whole bunch of other subjects that have been posted on here that people laugh at.
This website wasn't created to be PC or sensitive to individual people's feelings, including mine, but I've kept my mouth shut and waited for the next picture to come along when I've been offended by something.

It's the nature of the board, and if tomorrow something tragic happened, everyone will be making jokes about it a week from now and we'll all laugh.

Yay B3ta!

# Yes,
This.
(, Sat 24 Mar 2007, 17:35, archived)
# I don't think I can agree with this any more.
I lost my sister to cancer, and I would not even consider a cancer-related joke offensive on here. It really is a case of "If you don't like it, you know where the door is".

But I did remove the Hillsborogh joke before I forwarded it to my Scouse friend... I guess it's just a question of taste.
(, Sat 24 Mar 2007, 10:23, archived)
# nobody thinks what happened at hillsborough is funny
but one can laugh at how offensive this is
in other words, the offensiveness itself is the joke.

# Wrong place for this kind of debate
I am a Liverpool fan of 30+ yrs. I have friends who lost relatives at Hillsborough. It was a dark day and I find it grotessque when newspapers etc continue to misprepresent the truth of the events that day.

BUT, this is B3ta, a haven of all that is gladly wrong - look at past postings of Hitler, paedophilia, Branson as a gimp tied to a radiator... if you like freedom of expression you have to accept that occasionally you are going to be offended and swallow it.

Time spent complaining here is time that would be better spent shitting on Kelvin McKenzie's head.

Hillsbrough bad, B3Ta good. The only censorship worth talking about is self-censorship.

(gets off soapbox, relurks)
