No joke, no scare, I just saw this and wanted to animate it
and I demand to know WHY we can't get electroluminescent animating cards and posters, dammit!
Why do they only use that tech for clubbing T-shirts? We've had it for decades. Surely it can branch out into other areas?

Loveliness.
Design one of your own! T shirt I mean. It can't be that hard if the smack addled 13 year olds at Cyberdog manage it.

I have it all worked out in my head, you use one of those flat one use batteries as used in old Kodak instamatic cartridges,
you have an electroluminescent flexible panel with fairly large circles of 4 stage animated light, then a piece of printed acetate over it, folded as a normal card would be, but one side is all black save for 'holes' where the light needs to shine thru, then the other side is the actual scenic view. The light will shine thru the colours meaning it all just needs to be one near-white colour on the actual panel and the 'holes' and picture will always line up due to being printed together on one sheet.
It's be a bit weightier than a normal card and the electronics would have to be fairly solid (they'd add about 5 mil width so it'd be kinda like a thin digital picture frame), but otherwise, it would work, I'm sure!
SOMEONE MAKE ME THEM!!

Well if they make cards that can play tunes they surely can make this!

Ah but that is LED, we have those,
much simpler AND lighter than mine so that'd be why...

Electroluminescent
Mrs Wormburn does that sort of thing from time to time... she made electroluminescent corsets, with angel wings and things appearing through them. Pretty fucking awesome tbh... she's on the Axis website somewhere if you're looking for someone.
Oh, and fucking woot with the image.

And you should market that idea and make millions (and screw over Hallmark)

I'd love to, unfortunately I don't have the first idea how,
and I'm pretty damn sure anyone on here who does just has.
