only if the form you use as mask is too complicated, e.g. has to many edges, it can be that it is deformed, but I only encountered that problem once with multiple custom-brushed shapes :(
Edit: the image is on a separate layer below the mask, and the mask doesn't contain any other objects, right? And do you use a tween on the mask layer perhaps?
