This is a normal post I agree
However, there are those who believe that a running kick to the head, a spinning back kick etc etc are actually 'martially useful'. I've ecently been to a local 'Martial'* arts grading where they were giving 11 year-olds black belts! The advancement system had lots of coloured tags between actual gradings - each with its own cost - and a £260 charge for the black belt grading itself. Made me laugh. YMMV

*Martial in inverted commas because what I saw was not derived from or applicable to war or conflict. Pretty though. Unfortunately the first time some of these kids try to use it they'll get their heads pounded.

This is a normal post Once you have your black belt
Couldn't you just use your new skills to recover the £260 from your victim?

This is a normal post I'm relatively new to martial farts
I hear there are a lot of 'bull-shido' dojo's that crank out blackbelts for cash. I've even heard terrible stories of people training in these places for years before realising what crap is.

I'm mostly interested in Eskrima (also kickboxing and silat), trainer says between 5 to 7 years for a 'blackbelt'.

This is a normal post Our gradings are free too
though often he will have them at the start of a special training camp weekend. You don't have to go to the weekend event, but the one last week was fucking awesome. Had a french grandmaster and a Pro MMA guy teaching us, tons of fun.

Tis a great martial art, did it years ago and wish I never gave it up. Now I creak when I sit down, I think it might be too late to take it up again :o(

This is a normal post Just do what you can
I had a 70 year old guy teaching me aikido once upon a time.

He was an old guy, stiff and a bit slow, but he could still take a fall like the best of em.

I'll bet if you visit a physio they will give you simple leg exercises that stop the squeaking.

Inactivity is the most damaging thing you can do.
