This is a normal post Is this another pick on BrokenCoccyx thread because he lives in a country that does things differently?
Foreign country, their problem to sort out.

Or shall we start lecturing Pakistanis, Russians and former soviet bloc states etc on their gun control?

This is a normal post Careful, my new bff.
That sounds dangerously close to the liberal racist "we should respect brown people's moral stance" argument for not interfering on female genital mutilation, honour killings &c.
I think we should all starting thinking as denizens of this planet, rather than individual countries.... There are universal moral wrongs & turning a blind eye, so as not to offend 'different' cultural morals is patently wrong.

This is a normal post I'ld argue that mutilating women is more of a universal moral wrong that what level or weapon a citizen is allowed for self defense.
[edit]
Pakistan also has liberal gun laws and has had it's share of mass killings which barely gets a mention.
In the past weeks they've had aid workers murdered which didn't get people jumping up and being keyboard warriors.

This is a normal post Sam Harris agrees, and so do I,
but where do these "Universal Moral Wrongs" come from, if not our culture?
(, Wed 9 Jan 2013, 17:37, , Reply)
This is a normal post I have no idea. But pushing western culture/values is obviously something to be avoided.
I am unaware of Sam Harris (though his book on lying rings a bell), which book should I start on?

This is a normal post I've no idea I've never read any,
I read an online article by him some time ago so I know what his stance is on this, to be honest I wasn't impressed by his argument, and some quotes of his books elsewhere really put me off. He's one of these "all religion should be abolished" types.

This is a normal post If they too post a video to make a frankly idiotic point then yes, yes we should.

This is a normal post How's it idiotic?
I'm sure the same point would be made if Pete Doherty made a video lecturing others on drug use.
(, Wed 9 Jan 2013, 17:18, , Reply)
This is a normal post no.
it's the same as ewan mcgregor (trainspotting) or leonardo de caprio (the basketball diaries) lecturing other on drug use. ie. not hypocritical at all whatsoever.

This is a normal post Except Pete "Twatty McHat" Doherty actually uses drugs...
...instead of pretending to for entertainment. Pretty much the same result in the end though...

This is a normal post I'm struggling to read this as a serious post from you.
Is the point not that film stars sometimes are involved in films featuring guns yet they speak in favour of gun control?

Can you not see that your Doherty comparison is pretty wide of the mark?

Edit: what those chaps above said ^^
