Careful, my new bff.
That sounds dangerously close to the liberal racist "we should respect brown people's moral stance" argument for not interfering on female genital mutilation, honour killings &c.
I think we should all starting thinking as denizens of this planet, rather than individual countries.... There are universal moral wrongs & turning a blind eye, so as not to offend 'different' cultural morals is patently wrong.

I'ld argue that mutilating women is more of a universal moral wrong that what level or weapon a citizen is allowed for self defense.
[edit]
Pakistan also has liberal gun laws and has had it's share of mass killings which barely gets a mention.
In the past weeks they've had aid workers murdered which didn't get people jumping up and being keyboard warriors.

Sam Harris agrees, and so do I,
but where do these "Universal Moral Wrongs" come from, if not our culture?

I have no idea. But pushing western culture/values is obviously something to be avoided.
I am unaware of Sam Harris (though his book on lying rings a bell), which book should I start on?

I've no idea I've never read any,
I read an online article by him some time ago so I know what his stance is on this, to be honest I wasn't impressed by his argument, and some quotes of his books elsewhere really put me off. He's one of these "all religion should be abolished" types.
