a pinch point is a point in the road where cars can't overtake cyclists safely, like parked cars, traffic islands etc

He was just expecting the driver to have an ounce of common sense. Speaking as both a driver and a cyclist. Incidentally driving that close behind someone, pinch point or not, cyclist or not, is an offence of driving without due care and attention....
