This is a normal post I can't work out if people did the slimey after-comment thing before Gervais.
But every time I hear it I just think of him. Jimmy Carr does all the sodding time. I heard Fearne Cotton do it once that really annoyed me. I'm sure there are others.

That was more rude English gent. Which Cleese had down to an art. The Gervais slimey after-comment is much more self referential. In an oily way. Yeah? *points at self like Brent*
