This is a link post Ah, childhood memories. NSFW
Guy reminisces about a racist field trip to the cotton fields. NSFW for swearing. Niglets is now my new favourite word. I may not live much longer.

This is a normal post [Sniggers] (Can I say that in this context?)
One Merkin who at least understands the true meaning of irony, and can have a laugh about it.

This is a normal post He may understand irony...
...but him (or whoever is filming him) have no understanding of the term "in focus".
And is he trying to be Will Smith?

This is a normal post Hilarious!
I've just read that this video was re-uploaded by a stranger after the man himself took it down. He's attending law school and doesn't want to be known for this.

This is a normal post I am confused as to why that is racist.
People looking at stuff from the past.

This is a normal post the racism element
being taking a bunch of african american children to cotton fields in the south and putting them to work (think what a lot of the slaves used to be forced to work as down there in the south).

This is a normal post Yeah, same here
I'm fairly sure they take kids of all races to the same place. Would it be better if the country just swept its history under the carpet? I think not.

Doesn't sound to me like they were teaching them about the history though, really. They took them down to the field, made them pick cotton all day and then took the cotton off them and sent them home without paying them. There's a word for that, I forget what it is now...

1)the guy should consider getting a shrink if he still remembers a THIRD GRADE field trip with such clarity... he obviously was "traumatized" by the ordeal. (yeah right)
2)love the frat-boy douchebag next to him; "HAW HAW HAW, I love me some racist stories, and I don't have to hide my laughter cuz a negro's telling the story!!"

This is a normal post Memory should be working quite well by age 8
In fact, I remember my 3rd grade field trips just fine. We went to a cave, a natural spring/cave, and a nuclear plant.
I don't have much to tell you about the cave, but I still have vivid mental pictures.
At the natural spring/cave, I remember the unique type of rocks on the ground, and one in particular which I kept. I also remember the principal telling me on the drive home that I had done several "squirelly" things that day, however at the time I couldn't think of anything I had done that was out of line.
At the nuclear plant, they told us about some type of diagnostic injection that would go into one's bloodstream. I asked how the substance got out of one's body. It was then that I learned what the kidneys do. Embarrassing at the time, yes, but I wouldn't say traumatic.
