This is a link post Amazing train info
Booking tickets to Hannover for New Year to see a chum, and I stumbled on this site. Just the volume of information is incredible. It's not an agency, just a train travel enthusiast.

This is a normal post I've come across this site before, it's pretty bloody amazing.
So, are you going to Hannover via rail from the UK. That'll be ace- I'm quite jealous.

This is a normal post Be warned that it's right by the darn station, waiting for you
Frightened the life out of us when we first stepped out of the train station. "Do you think we'll have time to go and see the oh dear God look at that...."

seat61.com is a brilliant site. Also, if you need to book tickets, www.loco2.com are good for European travel - far better than Rail Europe - and I've heard good things about www.redspottedhanky.com for UK travel.

(Disclaimer: I have friends [edit: well, acquaintances; well, people I've met!] at www.loco2.com. But it is very good all the same.)

This is a normal post Bloody hell!!!
I must admit that if i have the time when i'm away i like to travel by train rather than fly, great way to see the country. Been all over Europe on train, the best being getting into Innsbruck from Munich in the middle of the night in winter, breathtaking.

We went on the Trans Siberian railway last year and we would not have been able to without this.

This is a normal post It was amazing
We started in Moscow and went all through Russia, via Lake Baikal, then to Mongolia and ending up in Beijing. It took us a month, the longest single train journey was 72 hours and we loved it :)

I've done The Ghan train in Australia from Alice Springs to Melbourne - brilliant (if you like deserts and mountains) and met loads of people along the way in the lounge car
