This is a normal post It is, like so much media content these days, entirely and exclusively based a social media post. They don't mention it because they have no idea. Which one is the father? Have they been spliced?
Political correctness prevents the first question being asked. The status quo in medical science makes the answer to the second almost certainly impossible. Did the surrogate even supply the egg?

(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 15:49, , Reply)
This is a normal post I don't. And I sincerely don't care about them as individuals.
However they did post a picture of themselves with an in utero scan on social media. The BBC reproduced this picture as news. As men, I have deduced, neither has a womb. This makes the story unusual, and therefore noteworthy. It seems to me you think it isn't unusual. I think that's where we differ.
(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 16:00, , Reply)
This is a normal post you do care though, you're all over it like a rash
Who's the father? Where's the mother? Isnt this weird? Questions, questions
(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 16:21, , Reply)
This is a normal post Not true. I care only in that it is highly unusual, yet people disingenuously engage in the Doublethink that it isn't. And almost certainly prohibitively expensive without an egg donor and free surrogacy.
I just Googled the other one. He wrote the screenplay for Milk. So at least one of them has done something worthwhile.

This is a normal post it's not really, in Western societies, in 2018

(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 16:57, , Reply)
This is a normal post Hell of a qualification there, 'in Western societies', but we've finally found where we disagree.
I believe that approximately less than 1% of all children are in some way are the offspring of a gay couple. Being in that approximately 1% group qualifies one as being highly unusual. You disagree. The end.
(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 17:13, , Reply)

(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 18:08, , Reply)
This is a normal post You'll feel different when they are people you know.
Friends of the family are in a gay marriage, neither has a penis but yet they have an 8 year old son together. I've never felt the urge to ask them where the spuff came from, or even who's egg it was. None of my business as far as I am concerned. They're amazing parents and the lad is exceptionally bright, polite and well balanced.
(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 16:26, , Reply)
This is a normal post But you didn't read about them in a national newspaper.
The issue here is the woeful quality of the reporting, not the fact that two married guys are starting a family together.
(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 16:40, , Reply)
This is a normal post I agree there, the reporting is atrocious, "They have not revealed any more details about the pregnancy, including whether or not a surrogate is involved."
I would have wanted to see the BBC list all the other options they had whilst holding up the ultrasound.

(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 17:27, , Reply)
This is a normal post You're reading sarcasm into that remark. Well done Benny.
Less than 1% of parents do this, ergo it is not normal. I think we can take as read there was some kind of medical intervention, IVF or equivalent, ergo not natural. Neither is a criticism or judgment, just an observation. Stop pretending something unusual is normal.
(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 19:04, , Reply)
This is a normal post All of that is true.
You've misinterpreted me. I'd still be curious about the biological parentage but wouldn't ask out of politeness though.
However I think if you scream "Look at me! Look at me!" by posting on social media because you're a reality TV star and professional attention seeker, such glaringly obvious questions are perfectly reasonable.

(, Wed 14 Feb 2018, 15:24, , Reply)
This is a normal post Why the intense focus on what you think is “normal” or “natural”?
You seem to be ignoring the crucial issue here, which is that when a couple announce having a baby, whatever the makeup of the couple (up to and including same sex couples without the biology to enable them to conceive) it’s the height of rudeness to ask (or report speculatively on) intrusive aspects of it.

You don’t have to be a professional liberal PC SJW to read that story and quietly conclude that the biological mother isn’t mentioned because all parties have agreed that the people actually bringing up the baby are the only ones who want to be considered “parents”, and the only relevant aspect of the surrogate is that in practical terms, the existence of a surrogate is obvious, but her identity unimportant.

You see, your questioning is a barrier to things like this being considered “normal” (as in, part of the range of things that humans can do which is considered normal), and the “snowflakes” on here would probably just quietly have your issues occur to them when reading the story, then think “ah well, those details are unimportant, and mentioning it won’t have any positive impact on anything”

There’s no doublethink, you haven’t noticed something nobody else has. It’s just that there’s really no reason to question the obvious, unless you wish to highlight abnormality or resist “normalisation”

that you aren’t equipped to deal with a grand total of four short, concise paragraphs.
In the spirit of your “BUT THE ENN AITCH ESS” posts, I’ll give you the gist: “YOU’RE JUST RUDE MATE, THATS ALL IT IS”

It is though, rather funny that when taken to task by someone who isn’t in enough of a running feud with you for you to have a lot of “previous” to bring up in lieu of a point, you’re reduced to effectively “la la can’t hear you”. The only baby related mystery on this thread is how one managed to create and maintain an account here.
