This is a link post Crazy Danes One-Up Joel
Not to put him down or anything - the paper plane edge-of-space launch was great.

But these guys...
These guys...

Well. They've built the largest amateur space rocket. That is, it's designed to penetrate the atmosphere. More than that, it's designed to carry a person.

A real, live person on an amateur rocket into space.

The test launch will be in the next day or two using a crash dummy who has a head-cam, with the exact date and time dependent on weather. They have a small window allowed them by NATO(!) in which to do it and if they miss it, they'll be set back months. So fingers crossed.

As if that wasn't enough, they're towing it on a custom-made raft (http://i.imgur.com/8jcFv.jpg) across the ocean, with a HOME-MADE SUBMARINE. Seriously.

EDIT: Forgot to say, you can track them on LiveShips, which I believe was newslettered - at any rate, it's been posted on links before and is pretty cool in itself.
The craft name is Sputnik, and should show up as a Danish cargo vessel.
