This is a normal post Please don't desensitise the image please ...
I'm fed up of the western media as it is trying to 'soften' how shit the world can be.
The press should document reality as it is ... maybe then people will think and alter actions.

CLEARLY, HORRIFIC PLANE ACCIDENTS should not be included if they are 'accidents'.

This is a normal post Not being antagonistic, but what do you mean?
I think written accounts of this have been fairly accurate, do you mean that "western media" should be obliged to carry photos? My favourite news source is radio 4, which picture-wise is inherently limited.
Again: apologies- I'm MASSIVE pissed.

This is a normal post Haha - I'm Merry too (not from LOTR) :D
What I mean is ... the press in the UK are scared to show blood and dead people ... that is the bottom line.
Even after 11pm yesterday they blanked out the shot-up bodies in a Syrian hospital.
Not showing how bad things are actively disengages people (in the UK - can't speak for others) IMO. If they saw how bad stuff is ... then, well ...

Written accounts amount for shite "a picture is worth a thousand words"

This is a normal post I know what you mean about pictures being edited to be "acceptable" to the mainstream media.
But, without fail, PM's longer features on some atrocity can make me blub/empathise more than any picture ever can.
(I realise the vacuousness of what I just wrote)
God, I can hardly type.
I do know what you mean though- though I dont get a paper or watch tv: atrocities sanitised for mass consumption.

This is a normal post Agreed ... about the written media ... I'm, reading
All Hell Let Loose by Max Hastings about WWII and some of it is totally shocking ... truly.

BUT .. in this world, now ... as it is with such feckle idiots, who cannot comprehend how odious things can be(I'm not talking about most B3tans'), thinking how howwible Mr XXXXXX or MS\Miss XXXXXX got knocked out of X-Fuckter\Britain's Got Diabetes\The Only Way is Wessex etc ...
Cunts don't have a clue :(

This is a normal post God you're a twat.
For a start you've changed from "western media" to "uk press"? (big jump)

For second you're clearly not gettting the right media, most broadsheets print some pretty hardhitting photojournalism. I've personally seen photos of stonings, burnt bodies etc in the Times and Guardian.

Your idea that people would be more enagaged with world affairs if they could see actual dead bodies is pretty depressing and perhaps not the sort of interest that somewhere like syria needs at the moment.

EDIT:Off to bed now. gaz me if you need to call me a twat back.
(, Sun 30 Dec 2012, 0:05, , Reply)
This is a normal post I won't call you a twat back ... as it's your opinion.
"western media" to "uk press" - pedant - Murdoch is involved.
It's not about engaging with world affairs ... most people don't care ... it's about saying 'fuck' and meaning it if they do see it.

my old man used to work for itn 198?-2003 as a vt editor. the things he has seen of wars and horrific accidents like this are kinda gruesome. i dont agree with you that thi stuff should be put on screens so peopple can gawp at them. dead bodies are not entertainment. i find the news' obsession with high body counts quite inhuman too. always fighting for as high a number as possible. It just seems wrong to me.
