: JAILBAIT OR LEGAL
Are these girls under or over 16?

This quiz has been on our minds for three
months - and we didn't dare make it.

We were worried that everyone would say that
we were kiddie fiddlers and call the police.

We just want to make a point about how the
  media represents teenage girls.

Or maybe we just want people to come to our
  site.

Anyway - it's dead good and should be
entered for the Turner Prize. Maybe.

: WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK #1
  Drum'n'Bass, Beer Clock & Biscuits.

  >> Drum'n'Bass animation <<
Boarder Tomsk has made two short and sweet
  drum'n'bass animations.
http://tinyurl.com/9uh

  >> Beer Clock <<
B3ta boarder Breel has been making a Beer Clock.
You simply type in the time you wish to go for
a beer, and it'll play an annoying alarm. Useful
for making sure you get everyone to go for a
  drink after work.

  >> Biscuit of the Week <<
Have you ever looked at B3ta regular Nicey's site?
Each week he reviews biscuits. It's both
  authoritative and funny.

: NAME THE BABY UPDATE
  The results are in.

A couple of weeks ago, our friend Stu asked
you to supply names for his new baby.

  And you did. 1,334 times.

Interestingly men tended to choose boys names
while women chose more names for girls.

Er.. and someone else chose "Yogurt".

You can read all the names here.

: WHAT B3TA PEOPLE HAVE BEEN MAKING THIS WEEK #2
Otter Pics, Ear Socks, Pants & Tourettes

  >> Otter Photos <<
Flibz has found some nice otters and took
  photos of them. Lovely.
http://www.flibz.com/otters/

  >> Ear Socks<<
Nacho has made a page where you can add
ear socks to photos of her friends. Ear
Socks? Yep. There are socks. For ears.
http://www.snakemountain.co.uk/breel.htm

  >> Without My Pants <<
Hugo Rune has made a page that takes other
sites and puts "without my pants" at the end
of every sentence in a web page. He says this
is "Funnier than it should be."
http://www.design4online.com/twat/twist.asp

  >> Tourettes Acronym Generator <<
Boarder Zetsumetsu has made a tool to
convert acronyms into their true meaning.
So SAT becomes "Shitting Anus Todger."
  His tool speaks the truth.

: HOW TO SPEND YOUR MONEY
  Buy Collapse!

Collapse is the crack of computer games, and
it's now available for the PalmPilot.

It costs $15 - and will destroy your life.

-------------------------------------------------

: SITES IN BRIEF
Stuff we like that wasn't made by our mates.

  >> Freak your friends with email <<
This is an art project that allows you to
assume a man called David Stills identity
and send email to your friends. It's quite
odd - and the results can really take people
  in.
http://www.davidstill.org

  >> Silly Dancing Thing <<
Yeah yeah. Dancing web pages are boring, we've
seen it all before - but this one is nicely
animated and you can control the dancers with
your keyboard to very pleasing effects.

  >> Extreme Computing <<
UK newsletter NTK has organised a computing
  conference celebrating UK grass roots
creativity. That sounds right up our street.
We'll be checking it out. (Sunday 9th June 2002)

: BOOTLEG MP3 OF THE WEEK
Get your lyrics recorded by an invalid.

Normally we ask Boomselection for their
favourite MP3, but their site has been down all
week and they haven't sent us any email.

We hope they haven't been shut down.

Anyway, we've been making our own music at
B3ta instead. Board member Koit is currently
recuperating after an operation. To fill his
time he's been taking lyric submissions and
  recording them as songs.

It's all quite wonderful - and we particularly
recommend the Hypno Cat song to fans of early
  90s indie/dance crossover.

Koit is also looking for new lyric ideas - so
  send him some.

: B3TA IMAGE CHALLENGE
  Results from David Blaine Challenge

Each week we run a competition to test your
creative skills. We set a challenge and you
open Photoshop and mess with our heads.

Last week we wanted you to make ideas for
  new challenges for David Blaine.
http://b3ta.com/challenge/musical/

We've asked B3ta coder Cal to judge the
entries - here are his top 3.

  Cal writes -

#3 "Have you heard about the women who walked
to the North Pole in special body suits?
All they needed was fucksocks. (rufus)
http://www.b3ta.com/board/1/1/9/6/6/3/

#2 "It would surely be a trick if he could
make Lord of the Rings exciting. (Daniel
     Fard)
http://www.b3ta.com/board/1/1/5/8/0/9/

#1 "This is so primary school that's it's
     fantastic." (Monkeon)
http://www.b3ta.com/board/1/1/4/5/8/5/

  >> This Weeks Challenge <<

This week, B3ta contributor Lucy Reese gave us
the suggestion, "Can you make some commemorative
crockery for the Queens Golden Jubilee. "
