This is a question Lucky Escapes

Freddie Woo says: Looking back on it, the moment when we left the road because I was trying to get the demister to work, regaining control just in time to miss a tree probably wasn't my finest bit of driving, nor my cleanest pair of pants. Tell us about your lucky escapes

I was driving over to Halifax once, a couple of years ago
I was in the middle lane and a big truck was in the slow lane, just in front of me. Suddenly, as I went under scammonden bridge, the truck swerved at me, and a blood covered person bounced in front of me. I screamed and yanked the wheel without thinking. I managed to avoid the truck and the person, but luckily for me, there was nobody in the fast lane, or it would have been v messy.

Then his trainers flew onto the road ahead of me. One still had a foot in it.

For a few seconds I assumed the truck had hit a motorbike, but then I cottoned on that he must have jumped off the bridge. And yes, it was in the papers a few weeks later, poor bastard had been a father of 3 who'd lost his job. Poor bastard truck driver too.

<like> because it's something more people need to be aware of, not because I actually *Like* it, what, do you think I hang around on /talk or something?

A friend of mine who is a train driver says that they say there are two kinds of people driving trains - someone who's had "one under" and someone who hasn't had one *yet*...

What sort of trainers?

The guys who clean the trains get a £250 bonus for a 'Fatality Clean'
Because the miseries tend to top themselves on the run-up to christmas it proves a nice little earner for otherwise low paid workers.

Apparently you can tell the ones that are serious about it because they pick bridges on long straight stretches of track where it's quiet, whereas the "cry for help" ones make a big show of their final dash to the edge of the platform as the train is already braking to a stop...

I know that bridge
It has two big signs on either end of it if you go over it with the number to the Samaritans. Stupid twat must have lost his phone. No wonder he jumped. (I know that's harsh, but I have no time for people who kill themselves that way. You're ruining someone else's life as well as your own which is fucking selfish. And who does the poor bastard who's car you land on claim to for their car repairs? Do it the classy way and take an asphicsiwank too far)

Wow, stay classy, The Internet.
Never mind that someone's unwell enough to kill themselves, someone's car needs a panel beater.
