This is a question Bugs and feature requests

Found a problem on B3ta? Want other features that we don't currently offer? Type your ideas here with your finger-mouths. (We don't promise we'll act on any of it, but we will read it and your words could even prompt us into action.)

Tell Us Your Story »

A daily limit on the number of posts you can make.
This would, hopefully, limit the number of 'What are you having for lunch' type posts per day to under 200.

In actual fact, now I think about it, any new post that contains 'What have you.....[insert question relating to banal opening statement] ?' in it automatically deletes their account & e-mails the child porn on their
hard drive to their local police station.

Yes. I like that.

I'd like flickr style stuff in my profile
be nice to keep track of anything that my friends have posted recently, and any new comments on my posts (not that I've posted anything in the last year or so...)

adding tags might be going a step too far though.

bug

Searchable newsletters
Trying to find a game on it which you have to balance coathangers, bird baths, water coolers etc. above water. If you balance it, you get a new item. Loved that game, can't find it :(

And searchable calendar would be nice :)

Word
An 'umpopular page' is a horrendous idea, as people would treat it like a badge of honour.

Please please please DON'T have a donators only board, it would kill the sparks of ideas.

How about the option to use a self-made icon at a premium. And icons on the front page.

And a nicerer approach to new people, I'm approaching 4 and I'm still scared of the big bad boarders. If it's shite, ignore them, don't go on for a whole night slagging them off. Twunts.

A car park and a shower...also everything should be a pathetic shade of deliverance!

(I like the idea of the random reply feature, but I would rather write here ..ts.t...(bored)))))))))))))))))00

Every time you refresh,
a little counter or number at the top of the screen saying how many new posts there have been loaded this refresh.

It saves having to check down the board each time when there could be a counter at the top saying there aren't any new posts. (or lots.)

Clarification
On the collective term for us people. Are we B3tans or B3tards?

Inquiring minds need to know.

Off to Talk board to find out....

MODEDIT: I personally don't like the term b3tan as it sounds defeatest. "We are beaten" Rather than the spirit of the name, "We are beaters! We'll beat anyone!" You are, of course, free to call yourself Geralds if you like.

fast button
I'd like a button that you press and it takes you to a page featuring a hot pron starlet getting a fist in the shitter. Is she in Pain or is it Pleasure? The button makes it worksafe by placing a kittens face over her grimace when looked at by other computers or something. Is that possible?

Some sort of combined 'Popular' page
which has the popular ones from the main board, the links board, the talk board etc. so that people see a bit more of what goes on on the site than just their favourite board.

modedit: I like this idea. I've been thinking of something along this lines for a while. The newly introduced talk voting was no accident...

Trusted modding
but ONLY with the ability to mod the posts of other people who are trusty modders.

sort of like a b3ta PvP.

Links Board Link from FP
I like the links board.

Hows about putting a button at the top of the front page?

mod edit: It will happen. It took about a year for us to stick up the a link to /talk. Our reasons being that we like to let community stuff grow organically before promoting them heavily. In the meantime - use a bookmark!

Replying to stories would be aces
Maybe a 'more (xx)' link next to the 'i like this', where the x's are the number of replies. That way some people can just read the stories, and others can read all the replies. meh

The ability to minimise threads would also be very nice (whilst possib;y still showing if there have been new replies)

next noob to suggest 'trusted modding' gets a slap
how the hell do you think it works at the moment?

and if they gave it to any of the regular clique b3ta would be like a fecking art gallery with no humour whatsoever

modedit. Trusted modding isn't going to happen. Certainly never in the form "people who've posted lots get to mod." There is absolutely no relationship between the amount someone posts, and whether they'd make a good mod. Frankly (naming no names), there's some people with very high post counts who'd just cause chaos if given mod rights.

fanjedit: my point exactly.

Pretty minor
but when making a reply - the live preview puts your profile address as localhost/board/users/profile... and not the profile. I don't care about this. But my eyes see it. My eyes care.
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 13:20, Reply)
Delete accounts
if they've they've posted anything in their first twelve months. Otherwise they just sit their denying the use of a name.

modedit: There are reasons someone might have an account and not use it to post. Check your profile settings, there's stuff like navkeys, swear filters and make links open in a new window etc. It possibly effects voting too, but I can't remember.

Same As Others
An "I don't Like This" button and umpopular page.

I like the Google search - how longs that been available?

And what I'd really love is a vote button for what QOTW we get. You have a suggestion page but it seems that none of the suggestions are ever used. The Mods just seem to ignore it.

I mean Dentist stories.. Is that really the best suggestion?

And one tiny, tiny suggestion - any chance of having a wee flag logo to indicate what country people are from? I've met some great people via B3ta from all over the world - including one who's possibly the only nice South African!

Love B3ta - Keep up the good work!

Oh - and any chance of my bloody name back please? It was stolen over a year ago when I changed my name as a temp measure. This is the person who's cyber-squatting it...

Forgive me if this has been already mentioned:
More buttons, which, when used en-mass, gives an effect.

For instance, NSFW button: When clicked by, say, 10 or more people, it would automatically blank the initial thread-starting post (or turn the image into a link?)

Trusted modding - If you have been here for a certain time, and your post count is over a certain limit, you are granted special powers over the board, such as the ability to delete or alter other peoples posts (so you can get rid of trolls or NSFW posts), and the ability to naughty-step.

Basic Icons - Maybe some wingdings-inspired icons, such as a circle, or arrow (all four, one for each direction), and other simple shapes.

The ability to reply to QOTW posts (on the post's own page)
So that the QOTW page stays nice and clean (well, relatively) and we don't get lots of posts titled re:bumtrinket or whatever three pages further down the line.

...a link to the links board?
Curiously missing from FP
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 13:05, Reply)
I know its been mentioned a few times, but
An 'I dont like this button' complete with an unpopular page, although I realise it would be utterly pointless it would be nice to see people named and shamed for shockingly bad stuff, may put off people posting rubbish.
(, Tue 7 Nov 2006, 12:58, Reply)
a bacon alarm
edit: an 'i don't like this', button would be a rubbish idea. i imagine it would cause a few arguments here and there, and that's just what the internets need, more silly arguments...
