This is a question Conned

swiftyisNOTevil writes, "I have recently become obsessed with the BBC Three show 'The Real Hustle' - personally, I think of it as a 'How To' show for aspiring con artists."

Have you carried out a successful con? Perhaps you hustled a few quid off a stranger, or defrauded a multi-national company. Or have you been taken for the wide-eyed, naive rube that you are?

Come to Comet!
"30 day full refund on any purchase still in the box. No questions asked" says the advertising blurb.

My bro bought a telly from the Colchester branch the other week, however upon bringing it home it didn't fit the space in the wall set aside for it.

"Ah, as the box is opened, you're only entitled to 90% of a refund." said the teenage salesperson.

"Says where?" asks bro

"On your receipt" replies the acne-riddled virgin.

"No it doesn't. It says 'full 30 day refund if returned in the box' here" says bro.

"The box has been opened, therefore it's company policy to refund 90%".

"Where is this advertised?" challenges bro

"Erm, dunno innit" replies the salesperson.

Be warned folks....

hahaha
Too my Tv back to Comet because all the black came out as red, made the manager look at it and he agreed there was a problem- but that I would have to take it back home and wait for a Samsung engineer to come round to my house and tell me it didn't work because he wasn't qualified to ascertain a fault. Took 2 weeks to finally get my money. Cnts.

The 10%
Is to cover 'labour costs'. it's basically a word of warning to the customer to think before they buy: is this really the one you want? Is it big enough? Etc etc. it's a pain and really embarrassing for me (as I work for Comet, doing returns) to have to tell the customer that they won't be getting their money back. It's another example of profit over service. Still, at least it's better than Currys: they don;t even employ customer service people as they don't see the point in spending money hiring people who won't get them a profit. Tch...

I can see the point of the policy, but
Nowhere is it advertised. In fact the shop puts a positive spin by crowing loudly about their "30 day no quibble guarantee", which is nothing of the sort.

Seriously, we checked the website, receipt, read the signs in the shop, even asked for a copy of this policy but no written clarification was to hand.

I'm certainly never going to buy anything from there....
