"Le Bocage", somewhere in northern FranceGritty bedsheets from the previous dirty-toed guest. Noisome, mouldy bathroom (sorry, no Europeans except us do proper plumbing). Barman dropping copious quantities of Gauloises ash on the glasses he was supposed to be wiping.
As a parting gift, violent food poisoning 24 hours later for the whole family.
We should never have given them Calais back.
