This is a question Fears and Phobias

I'll level with you. I'm really freaked out by loose buttons. I'm fine while they're doing their job, but once they're free the evil bastards are a major threat to my life. Tell us what spooks you, and how you cope. Also: church bells, doner kebab salads, death.

People I don't know going near my mouth.
It makes courting difficult and going to the dentist's surgery almost impossible.
Recently the pain of having a shattered molar outweighed my anxiety of having a failed doctor dicking around in my gob and so I went to see a dentist. I was offered intravenous sedation in an effort to quell my obvious trepidation which I gratefully accepted. At some point during the extraction I regained consciousness to find the dentist's arms in my clutching fists and a panicking nurse assuring me that everything was fine and the extreme pain would subside, suffice to say my next extraction will be carried out by myself utilising a pair of pliers.

Pliers? Pliers?
What happened to the good old fashioned string-and-slam-the-door method?
