Insignificant morning thread
Anyone have any interesting dreams?
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 7:19, 142 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
Morning AW.
I never remember mine. Probably for the best given some of the things that go through my mind when I am awake.

Excellent lunch with Nigel Howarth (Michelin star chef) yesterday at his restaurant
Very interesting bloke. Have a look at the place: www.northcote.com

Early start today - was on email at 5am just to clear it all as in meetings back to back from 10 -7 today, so only time to crack on. Bored and hungry now.
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:14, Reply)
Looks like a nice restaurant, what'd ya have?

(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:53, Reply)
Venison carpaccio, hake with puy lentils followed by local cheeses.
Total cost: zilch. 4 of us from work were invited by him.

Morning Mr Weight
I did not. But I woke up about 5am and couldn't stop thinking about work, and all the things I needed to do today. So now I'm here I'm obviously not doing them.

Morning mate
I made a cracking jambalaya last night, got it for lunch today. Also made beetroot & cherry tomato soup which we'll have cold with feta tonight.

Fascinating, eh
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:31, Reply)
Jambalaya sounds good
However, as I've not tried beetroot since I was a child, I couldn't comment on the other. Except for the feta, the vile stuff.

You're WEIRD

Morning AW
I have some very odd dreams, but I often forget them as the day goes on. The last one I remember had a unicorn getting hit by a 747 in mid-air, that was quite funny.

Morning all, despite being up til 2:15, I have woken feeling rather good! For the first time in a while, I'm actually in a rather good mood at this time of the morning!
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:22, Reply)
We'll soon knock that out of you.

(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:24, Reply)
Nope.
Finances are nearly sorted, I'm squaring up for an argument with the bank at the weekend, I've still got more money left than month, I cooked a rather good lasagne last night, following it up with something I've not eaten in ages - bolognaise sandwiches.

All is going well.
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:26, Reply)
Good stuff
Life is a little easier when you don't spend the last couple of weeks of the month scratting around on pennies.
Bolognaise sandwiches sound interesting.
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:32, Reply)
Still got about another £35 owed to me as well, which is nice.
I'll claim that next week.

Aye, they started at my old house, we'd get in from a night out where I'd had a bolognaise in the slow cooker, one night I wondered whether it would work in a sandwich. Absolute mess that way, so the next time I tried it with toast, works perfectly. Over time, it got to a point where I would put bolognaise on in advance, so that we could all have one when we got in. They're messy as hell, but a great little snack.

I only had them last night because I'd made a little too much sauce for the lasagne, but not enough to make another one, so I just had it in a couple of sandwiches.
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:36, Reply)
Good mornings to all
Very much the same here- completely warped dreams that leave my head far too quickly.. Having some difficulty even staying asleep at at the moment 3 hours down then I'm wide awake again - it's days like these that I'm glad I've got shit all to do except this. Doug Stanhope gig tomorrow though :)
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:27, Reply)
Ahh, that's not good
I hate it when I'm unable to sleep, usually it's because my room is too fucking hot, being at the top of the house.

Cool cool, where are you seeing him?
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:29, Reply)
Cursed by the same problem
Any room I move into give me instant sweaty-bollocks. But it's side effects from med's that are keeping me up at the moment - it'll pass.. & I'm seeing Stanhope at the Anvil in Basingstoke, anyone ever been?
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:35, Reply)
Ahh, not good.
Nope, sorry
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:37, Reply)
Morning all
I have had insufficient sleep and I have meetings today.
I don't feel as though I was asleep for long enough to have any dreams, interesting or otherwise.

In more positive news
I am going to see a band tonight, the last time I saw them it was easily one of the best gigs I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot).
I just need to be able to stay awake.
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 8:34, Reply)
Sucks about the meetings
Who's the band?

Morning all,
I've not heard the term "wankgaz" before, I approve and shall endeavour to use it. Finishing DIY is always the hardeat bit, I still have door handles to reattach from decorating a few years ago. Pure laziness really.

hanging doors is particularly challenging when you only really have use of one hand.

(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 9:38, Reply)
Smalls.
That fat turd. Mr Pence is sadly still alive, to my knowledge, and thus has the potential to embarrass himself on the 'M.I.C.' in this country at a future date.

50 Cent was on a series I'm rather fond of this week, playing a 'mogul'
Seems he's a prick, even when he's acting.

How surprising.

(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 9:51, Reply)
he is one of the worst rappers ever
And it sickens me that when I tell people that I love hip hop, they base their view of the genre on him rather than peeps like Divine Styler, Aesop Rock or Mos Def.
(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 10:08, Reply)
Or Percee Pee, Large Professor, Godfather Don, Edan or Mr Lif.

Or Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace, Kool G Rap, Divine Force, etc etc

(, Thu 12 Apr 2012, 10:18, Reply)
Indeed.
Basing one's view of hip hop on quendy drivel like 50 cent, lil Wayne or Nelly is like judging all heavy metal by the yardstick of Bon Jovi.

I got in to work to find a hugely passive aggressive note on my desk
saying 'I need you to do this, did you not see my email?' - said email was sent at 16:55 yesterday. Yeah. 1) Like I'm going to see that and 2) go out of my way to do a shitty time consuming task just before home time. When I got up to the lab I was sniffily informed the task had already been done. FUCKS. SAKE.

Kill them all and let god sort them out.
I got an email from HR demanding to know why I haven't completed PDR on my staff yet. I gently pointed out that my priority for the last month or so has been recovering from having a fuck-ton of metal screwed into my arm.

I didn't point out that PDR is compltely irrelevant for people on fixed term research contracts as a) they can't get promoted and b) their "targets" are the fucking milestones on the grants and therefore could you please stop wasting all of our fucking time with this shit? .. but I wish I had.
