Well the Airplane at Woodstock would be mega.
Just reading the book on Nicky Cooper, session keyboard guy who played with them. And just about everybody else. Stones, Who, Yardbirds, Andy Williams, Quicksilver The Wurzels. Fuck me, the guy was mega.
8 hours? Sounds about right.

Better at Altamont.
Seeing Marty Balin getting chinned by a pissed-up Angel in 3D would be hilarious.

I remember hearing one of the first ever recordings of Hendrix playing as a session musician at the BBC
before striking out on his own.

No you don't.
His first recordings for the BBC were with the Experience, for the radio show 'Top Gear'. His years as an r'n'b sideman for the likes of Little Richard and the Isley Bros are all available but predate his move to the UK by a couple of years.

maybe it was just played on the bbc...I'm sure the chap said it was recorded at maida vale or somewhere similar
however I'm sure you know better!

There's a fantastic compilation out there
of all his BBC sessions. It's some of his best work, and includes my favourite of all his recorded works, an instrumental called Drivin' South.

I had a cassette of this many many years ago
One of those cheapo Castle Communications releases. I really need to get the official release on a format that I can play.
Edit: And Driving South is incredible.

You really do.

re edit: it's a peerless masterclass in style and technical control. Best ever.

I don't know how well Top Gear would translate to radio, tbh.

No worse than motor racing is as a spectator sport.

I couldn't believe how Jagger defended the Angels.
They murdered a guy for fuck's sake, how do you defend that?
(, Tue 17 Apr 2012, 10:47, Reply)
Did he defend the murderers
Or the Angels as a group? Because I know several Angels and despite what you read they don't rape, pillage and murder.

Their London HQ is two streets from my flat.
No trouble, ever.
