This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

City TV is one bad mother
On a local TV station here in Toronto (CityTV, if you know the town), they think our little ears are too sensitive to hear the word motherfucker while watching movies (why they think it'd be OK for someone -- presumably a kid -- to watch a movie with people getting their heads blown off but not to hear an obscenity is anther story). Thus, they bleep out part of the word. No, not the ``fucker'' part. ``You are one bad ------fucker''. The first time I noticed this I was in a slightly-less than sober state, so didn't believe my ears. It happened again with a different movie the following week.

Could it be a joke?
Sounds like it if they're intentionally bleeping the wrong bit.

Funnily enough here in good old Blighty....
.... it's quite similar.

Anything can be said in a film, but in say a chat show, as long as it's after the watershed, almost anything can be said, with the exception of cunt and motherfucker.

There may be others, but I'm not aware of them.

So...
does that mean that Scarface would still be just about ok?

Reminds me of BBC 'bleeping'
I heard an absolute classic a few years ago when the BBC tried showing 'Beverly Hills Cop' before the watershed (What the point of that is I'll never know). Yes there were the usual 'muddy funster' changes etc but in the scene where Eddie Murphy is called a 'foul mouthed jerk from out of town' and he replies 'Foul mouthed? FUCK YOU MAN!' it was replaced with 'Foul mouthed?......and you have a pig face' Brilliant and accidentally way funnier than the original script. I could only wonder what Eddie Murphy thought when he was asked to reshoot scenes such as that and say the alternative lines...

Didn't some US channels
Used to dub the phrase 'i love you' into 'i care about you'? Or did I just make that up?
